RTG Online Casinos

RTG, short for Real Time Gaming, has been making casino software since the early days of online casinos, starting in 1998. While many online gaming software companies have come and gone since, RTG has shown that they have the staying power and the ability to adapt well to changing market conditions, and remain a major player in the business today.

RTG never did achieve the success of the biggest casino software makers, but they have consistently maintained a modest share of the market over all these years. Their games don’t really stand out in an over the top way, but they have at least been able to make software good enough that it has always remained in demand to a good extent anyway.

This continues even with some very impressive new offerings coming out in the business from some very innovative software makers, in addition to the leading software makers constantly upgrading their games offerings to keep up with the times and the competition. RTG has kept its firm footing in the industry throughout all of this.

RTG was originally an American company, which moved its operations offshore after the UIGEA legislation was passed, being bought by a gaming company from Curacao. At this point, there was a reluctance among some online software companies to license their software to online sites which still catered to the U.S. market, but RTG remained true to its American roots and had no problem with this.

So today, they remain a leading provider of casino games to US facing online casinos, although not the only one, but this has no doubt kept the company flourishing and these sites comprise a large amount of their overall business. Being U.S. friendly hasn’t been a smooth road since but RTG has refused to waver and continues to benefit from this decision.

What RTG Offers

A software company’s appeal to players at least always comes down to the quality of its games, and RTG’s have at least been sufficient in this regard. A lot of RTG’s focus is on casino operators, this isn’t that unusual as this is their customers, who pay them the money to be permitted to offer their games. RTG claims that their setup is the most profitable out there for casino operators, and do offer some innovative customization options for online casinos which they no doubt appreciate.

This is not something that players tend to care about of course, like for instance being able to adjust the payouts for slots more easily, or choosing how many decks you want to use with your blackjack games, but in the end, if the software doesn’t suit the casinos well enough, they just won’t offer it, so this being more appealing to operators does make it more likely that players will be able to enjoy it, and have more variety of games to choose from.

RTG offers a full variety of online casino games, including both slots and a very wide selection of casino games. They offer both a download and a no download version of them, and unlike some software makers, they offer a full selection of games in both formats.

RTG’s download version of its games does offer a little sharper graphics, but the difference is barely perceptible, and is small enough that this should not even be a consideration. Getting this in download form is very easy though so there are no issues here really in any case.

RTG does offer progressive jackpots on its games across multiple sites, although their jackpots are sometimes criticized for being less lucrative as the progressive jackpots on some of their competitors. This is just a matter of how the payouts are proportioned though, and they tend to proportion less of a percentage to the jackpot than some casinos do, but this isn’t a negative really, it just means that the overall payouts are structured a little differently.

The Main Reason Why You Want RTG Games

RTG does provide a lot of variety all by themselves when you look at the hundreds of games they offer, but nowadays the focus is a lot more on quality, and casinos will often have several software makers and cherry pick the best games for you so to speak.

So their over 300 games may be plenty appealing to an online casino and some may choose just to go with a single provider for their games, such as RTG, but some may want to offer a similar amount of games or even more games across several software makers.

This has the benefit of having the casino appeal to a wider range of players, as some may like the software and the games from one provider more than another, but with the ability to choose between software makers, this keeps everyone happy.

Another benefit of doing this is that you can take the best and most popular games a software maker has, and if some of the games are less popular and may be more like filler, well you don’t need to offer that and this becomes more like an all star site of casino games.

So this doesn’t really come down to who makes the best games, or at least shouldn’t have to come down to that, and if it did, well when players speak of the best overall software maker, other names tend to come up more than RTG’s.

Yet many players enjoy RTG’s games, especially their slots, their table games aren’t quite as good but their slots do have a pretty good following, with many interesting ones.

RTG’s games do provide more variety overall to a casino’s general games collection and are at least worth checking our yourself.
