Las Vegas is about to welcome a new hotel to the marketplace, the SLS Las Vegas which will open this Saturday August 23rd, 2014. The property is located on the North End of the Vegas Strip and will feature 1,622 rooms and a slew of amenities for guests. The angle of the hotel is “affordable luxury” and it’s pretty clear what their target market is – young professionals with money looking for something between the Hard Rock and Cosmopolitan. Below we’ve written an overview of the different aspects of the property so you can get a sneek peek into what the SLS Las Vegas has in store for its first visitors this weekend.
Hotel Rooms – The SLS features 17 different room options for guests ranging from 426 sq ft for the standard Lux Deluxe King all the way up to 2,382 sq ft for the Lux Penthouse. Rates seem to be in the $200-$300 per night range and there is still availability for the opening night this Saturday at around $299 which is quite reasonable considering you’ll be the first person to sleep at the property.
Restaurants – The SLS features three types of dining categories including Signature Dining, Casual Dining and In-Room Dining. In the Signature class, the restaurants include Bazaar Meat by Jose Andres, Katsuya by Starck and Leo. For casual dining, the options include Ku Noodle, Unami Burger, 800 Degrees, The Griddle Cafe, The SLS Buffet and The Perq. Lastly, In-Room dining is available 24 hours a day, but they haven’t published the menu yet.
Day & Nightlife – Not one to be skimpy when it comes to nightlife, the hotel features 2 nightclubs, 3 bars and 2 pool clubs. The signature venue is “Life”, a 20,000 sq ft nightclub that’s connected to a roof top pool known as “Life Beach”. The opening part this Saturday features Erick Morillo and will definitely be at the top of everyone’s plans this weekend. Other venues include Foxtail, which is a smaller and more intimate nightclub that also has its own pool club, The Sayers Club featuring live music, Center Bar in the casino and Monkey Bar located in the lobby.
Casino – The casino at SLS is 60,000 sq ft and features over 70 tables, 800+ slot and video poker machines and a sportsbook. The group will also integrate an iGaming site as part of the casino which will be licensed for players in Nevada.
Other Amenities – In addition to the above, the SLS Las Vegas also features lots of other amenities for guests including the Ciel Spa, shopping, a salon (Tres Gorgeous), fitness center (open from 8am-6pm daily), business center and much more.
While the opening of a new hotel is always an exciting time in Vegas, the undertone really signals the recovery of the city after it was hit hard during the 2008 recession. With the opening of the SLS and the Genting property next year, it appears at least on the surface that Vegas has once again become a viable investment opportunity for developers from around the world. Let us know if you check out the SLS this weekend and what you think about it.
