Red Hawk Casino Review
The State of California is home to many casinos, all run by Indian tribes on their land. California is a huge market, and the people here love to gamble. The state has only seen fit to issue licenses for card rooms which are only able to offer poker, and although California is the poker capital of the United States by far, many people prefer to gamble at slots and traditional table games as well.
While the State of California initially tried to block Indian tribes from offering other types of gambling besides poker on their lands, the matter became settled by the Supreme Court of the United States who decided that the Indians do have the right to do so, and this ushered in the explosion of Indian gaming across the country.
California has always been at the forefront of this and there are now many casinos in the state, and some very big ones as well. One of these larger casinos is the Red Hawk Casino in Placerville, 30 miles east of Sacramento in the foothills of the Sacramento Valley.
Some Indian casinos here permit players 18 years of age and older but you do need to be 21 to gamble at the Red Hawk. It opened in December 2008, and not only has a large casino floor, a world class size in fact, it is of very high quality and consistently gets very good reviews from its guests. The casino here is also entirely non smoking which many guests appreciate.
It didn’t take long for them to make a name for themselves, and in a few short years, the Red Hawk Casino has racked up an impressive collection of awards, including winning the award for the best casino in the Sacramento area for the last 5 years running, as well as other local casino awards. It is the cream of the crop as far as casinos in the Sacramento Valley go and is one of California’s best casinos overall as well.
There is no hotel here, and there’s no real need for one as the players here pretty much all come from the area, as they are located in a metropolitan area of over 2 million people, but those who are coming for an overnight visit will have no trouble finding accommodations at a nearby location.
The goal of Indian casinos in California has been to offer high quality casino gambling within easy driving distance, to capture a lot of the folks that used to go to Vegas, and while Las Vegas does offer an experience that Indian casinos really can’t match, the bigger casinos anyway deliver all the casino fun one could desire without the expense of having to travel, and the Red Hawk is certainly in this class.

The Casino at Red Hawk Casino
Red Hawk Casino is of course first and foremost a casino, and this is why people come here, and they get one of the largest casinos in the state and in the country as well to enjoy.
The 2,100 slot machines they have on hand here is right up there with the biggest Indian casinos in the state and even more than you tend to find at even the biggest casinos on the Las Vegas strip.
They have a large selection of everything from classic slot machines to the latest in video slots and video poker machines, and also feature a high limit area where you can play for the real big bucks and get even more special treatment from the staff while doing so.
In addition to the 91 high limit slots in the High Limit area, you’ll also find some high limit table games, to ensure that the high rollers can bet big stakes on table games as well.
There are 75 table games in total at this casino, which include single and double deck Blackjack, Fortune Pai Gow, Mystery Card Roulette, Three Card Poker, World Poker Tour All In Holdem, Let It Ride, EZ Baccarat, Mini Baccarat, and Blackjack Switch.
Red Hawk also has a 7 table dedicated poker room, where you can square off against other players and enjoy table side dining while you play. The poker room here, like the rest of the casino, is smoke free for your comfort.
Red Hawk does not have the luxury of having a steady flow of short term occasional visitors like big resorts do. Since they cater to the local traffic pretty much exclusively, if they don’t do a great job making their players happy, they won’t come back, but they keep coming back to Red Hawk, they keep winning awards for their great casino, and that speaks pretty loudly to the quality of the experience here.
