Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel Review

The Lower Sioux Indians of Minnesota used to be a mighty tribe with expansive lands, although the tribe has now shrunk to only a little over 300 people, and their lands have been reduced to less than 3 square miles.

The tribe might be small but they certainly are making their presence known through their massive Jackpot Junction casino, one of the largest in the world with 440,000 square feet of gaming space.

They got into the game very early on, first opening a bingo hall in 1984, and then opening their casino in 1988, the first casino in Minnesota.

The property has gone through a number of expansions since, starting with the building of a hotel, Lower Sioux Lodge, in 1995, a convention center in 1996, an amphitheater in 1999, a golf club and a hotel expansion in 2000, and a new convention center and a further hotel expansion in 2008.

The Lower Sioux Lodge now has a room capacity of 379, bringing in more overnight guests in addition to all the drive up traffic they get from metropolitan Minneapolis-St. Paul, located only 100 miles away.

Jackpot Junction is the largest casino in the area and brings in a lot of people, and has done much to raise the Lower Sioux Indian Tribe from economic disparity to great success today, as well as entertain a whole lot of gamblers.

The Features of Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel

The rooms here aren’t as flashy as in the high end casinos, but they are nicely decorated and are clean and comfortable. This is a AAA three diamond rated hotel so it’s not the real high end like the four and five diamond hotels but it’s still pretty nice, especially for an Indian hotel casino.

Rates here are reasonable, starting at $60 per night for a standard room, which is available with either a king or two queen beds, with such amenities as a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, free WiFi, LCD flat screen TV, and in room coffee maker.

Deluxe rooms start at $65 a night, and are a little more nicely decorated. You can get a suite for as little as $100 a night, and these are a real step up from the rooms, both in terms of size and luxury. You can get a Fireplace Suite, a Jacuzzi Suite, a Poolside Suite, or a VIP Suite, all nicely priced as far as suites go.

The most expensive suite on the weekend here only costs $170 a night, the price of a standard room at many hotels, and these are quite a bit nicer than regular hotel rooms. Hospitality suites are also available for meetings as low as $70 per night.

Jackpot Junction is located in the very small town of Morton, Minnesota, so there’s not much nearby as far as dining options, but luckily, they have plenty on hand here at this casino hotel.

The Seasons Buffet is a real hit here, featuring home cooking with a very large selection of different food to choose from. This is a very popular restaurant and if you’re going to visit the Jackpot Junction you definitely want to try out their buffet, where you can eat your fill and then some if you wish.

There aren’t any high end dining establishments here, but they do offer some very good honest to goodness food, all at comfortable prices. The Dakotah Restaurant offers a wide selection of meal options, including breakfast, sandwiches and wraps, salads, burgers, steaks and seafood, and more. There’s also a full service bar here and gluten free dining is also available.

There’s also a Papa John’s pizza restaurant on hand, and given how famous and popular Papa John’s is, you know you will be getting a good quality pizza here every time.

2 Go Food Express provides fresh fruit, salads, sandwiches, hot dogs, and other light snacks, and Caribou Coffee serves up some of the best coffee you will ever drink. You can also get a meal at the Player’s Sports Bar and Grill, in addition to enjoying drinks and catching the game.

The Player’s Sports Bar and Grill also features free live entertainment on the weekends, in addition to bigger acts at both the 2,000 seat Dakota Exposition Center and the 5,000 seat outdoor amphitheater.

There is 45,000 square feet of meeting space here, to make your convention or other get together even more fun than just going to a regular hotel without gambling available. They have a golf course on site and can arrange golf outings for either yourself or your group. They can also arrange for your wedding to take place here and offer full wedding services.

The Casino at Jackpot Junction

Like many casinos, Jackpot Junction offers a players club, where players get rewarded for their casino play. The one here is called Express Rewards, and cards are available in 6 different types, from Ruby to Elite, according to the level of your play.

Membership entitles you to various comps and rewards in addition to being eligible for their several casino related promotions on hand. They also offer packages such as their current Stay and Play deal where for $60 you get a night’s stay, $10 in casino credits, and $10 in food credits. This deal is pretty hard to beat actually.

The huge amount of casino space they have here only has 1,200 slot machines and 24 table games, and this is over almost half a million square feet, so this for sure isn’t a casino that is cramped in any way, which is definitely a feature of this place.

With 1,200 slot and video poker machines though, you can count on there being plenty of different ones to choose from, and they have the latest ones here as well for you to check out and enjoy. The selection here includes traditional slots, the newest video slot machines, video poker, keno machines, and a good selection of progressive jackpots.

There are only 6 different types of table games offered among their 24 tables, but that’s more than enough to make most casino players happy. They offer the always popular Blackjack, Free Bet Blackjack, 21+3, 3 Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Holdem, and High Card Flush. Due to their compact with the state, only card games are permitted, but there’s a good amount of them here.

Jackpot Junction also has a state of the art, 250 seat bingo hall, and bingo is where it all started here, and they take pride in offering the best bingo in the area. They also offer pull tabs for sale as well as tickets for the Minnesota Lottery.

Overall, if you are in the Minneapolis area or are planning on traveling there, Jackpot Junction does offer one of the best hotel casino experiences in the area, and are worth checking out.
