Reports indicate that the Ocean Resort Casino has plans to open the very same day as the Hard Rock Atlantic City.
The Hard Rock Atlantic City is one of two new gaming venues set to open this summer in New Jersey. Hard Rock International announced the opening date of their new Atlantic City casino for June 28th, with players ready to attend the grand opening and see what the former Trump Taj Mahal casino has to offer. The former Revel Casino is set to reopen as the Ocean Resort Casino and now the Hard Rock competitor seems to be taking things up a notch by possibly opening on the very same day!
Officials of the Ocean Resort Casino has not admitted or denied that they will also be opening on June 28th. Frank Leone, the CEO of the Ocean Casino Resort, told the Press of Atlantic City in an email that “The Ocean Resort Casino Team is committed to opening this summer and looks forward to announcing its highly anticipated opening date soon.”
Bruce Deifek is a developer from Colorado that purchased the casino property back in January for $200 million. Employment agreements for the Ocean Resort have come in that show work starts on June 11th and that an anticipated opening date is June 28th. People who have been hired in have confirmed these dates as well.
It seems the Ocean Resort Casino is taking an ‘if you can’t beat them, join them approach’. The Hard Rock Atlantic City has yet to comment on the supposed opening date but they are most likely not happy that their new rival will be opening on the very same day. According to the Atlantic City Department of Licensing and Inspections, officials of both properties have been around and a lot of activity has been going on.
Ocean Resort must still be given licensing from the Casino Control Commission. No license hearings have been scheduled and the Division of Gaming Enforcement must still complete a report as well. Once the casino does open, it will offer 6.4m square feet in luxury casino and hotel space. The casino floor will be 138,000 square feet in size and offer 1,399 guest rooms at the hotel.
Ocean Resort will be offering something that Hard Rock will not have. Just this week, it was announced that the casino signed a partnership deal with Topgolf to create a Topgolf Swing Suite at the venue. The Topgolf entertainment spot will be the largest virtual golf experience in the world, with 11 simulation bays located onsite. The area will also include a lounge and amazing ocean views.
Once the land-based gaming venues open, the two will then start to focus on online gaming. Both have showed interest in offering online games and it would not be surprising to see the two begin their online foray rather quickly. Both will want to try and gain a stronghold in the industry, doing well in both land-based and online game play.
Hard Rock has plans to work with Gaming Innovation Group to launch their online gaming options and just recently announced a partnership with NetEnt for online content. Ocean Resort has plans to work with GAN for their online casino gaming options, the same provider for Betfair NJ.
For now, we will have to wait and see if both casinos end up opening on the same day and just how many patrons walk through the doors of each!
