Will Ocean Resort Casino Obtain Licensing in Time?

Ocean Resorts Casino

Ocean Resort CasinoOcean Resort Casino is set to open in just over a week. Will the venue earn the appropriate approvals for casino gaming in time?

Today, officials of the Ocean Resort Casino of New Jersey will be meeting with the Casino Control Commission to discuss casino gaming licensing. Ocean Resort is located at the former Revel Casino in Atlantic City, set to open on June 28th. AC Ocean Walk, the operator of the casino, has been hard at work to prepare the venue for operation, with this being the final step before everything falls into place.

Special Hearing

Today at 1pm, a special hearing is set to take place between the casino and the Commission, with the end result hopefully being that the venue is given casino licensing. To some, the hearing may seem to be a formality. However, it is serious and will determine the difference between the casino being able to offer casino games or not.

The casino must have the license in place if they are to offer table games and slot machines. The representatives of the venue will need to testify and show their plans on what they will be offering within their gaming floor. they must prove that they can meet the burden of operating a casino and then the Commission will make their decision whether or not to award the casino license.

Summer Opening Date

At the first of the year, the AC Ocean Walk group decided to purchase the former Revel from its then owner Glenn Straub. The operator has set a six month time frame for the property completion, with the opening date just reveled a few weeks ago. Funnily enough, the casino will open on the same day as the Hard Rock Atlantic City, the second new casino set to open in the region.

The Revel must have been in pretty good shape because the Ocean Resort has been able to get their venue up to par rather quickly. Licensing had to be gathered for the overall operations of the property and then work to prepare the venue for gaming activity, hotel stays, entertainment and dining.

During this time, the company then asked for a hearing with the Commission to be able to get moving on casino licensing. During this meeting, the Commission will be provided with final information by Ocean Resorts. If the Commission decides to say no, and not award the casino with a gaming license, Ocean Resorts will have as many as 20 days to come back with an appeal.

Ready for Business

When June began, the casino gave a sneak peek of the venue to reporters, with the media describing that the property is modern and up to date. Ocean Resorts casino will be home to close to 1,400 guest rooms with 18 dining facilities. Tons of entertainment will be located on-site including a TopGolf addition.

The casino will also offer a sports book, thanks to the recent decision by the United States Supreme Court. With the overruling of the PASPA, states in the US can now legalize sports betting, something that New Jersey has already done. The Ocean Resorts Casino will be one of many that offers a fully functioning sports book. According to reps of the casino, the sports book will be located at the heart of the casino floor and will create amazing energy.
