Venetian Las Vegas Gives 1,000 Meals Daily to Homeless

LOVE Sign Inside of Venetian Resort Las VegasIn a partnership with Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, the Venetian Resort is providing 1,000 boxed meals a day to the homeless in the Las Vegas Valley.

From May 1 through May 14, they will be providing meals daily for a total of 14,000 meals.

The Venetian partnered with Catholic Charities for the philanthropic mission since Catholic Charities’ dining room was shuttered due to the coronavirus outbreak, which hindered their ability to provide homeless outreach.

Every boxed meal is prepared fresh daily by the Venetian’s culinary team, which is led by the vice president of culinary operations at The Venetian Las Vegas, Chef Olivier Dubreuil.

The boxed meals contain a “Message of LOVE,” which is a note of encouragement submitted online by Venetian team members all across the globe. It coincides with the lit-up display of the word “LOVE” that has been shining big and bright on the property’s building throughout the Strip’s shutdown.

Each box also comes equipped with a Venetian Clean hygiene kit, which contains body wash, soap, and lotion.

Sands China Assembles 40,000 Hygiene Kits for Clean the World

For the sixth year in a row, Sands China Ltd., a subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands Corp (LVS) which owns the Venetian Las Vegas, participated in a hygiene kit build, similar to the kits provided in the boxed meals.

Last December, nearly 350 volunteers from Sands China Ltd. and local community groups came together at The Venetian Macao to build 40,000 of the total 100,000 hygiene kits necessary for the Las Vegas Sands 2019 Global Disaster Relief & Community Preparedness Event with Clean the World.

Clean the World is a social enterprise that provides hygiene supplies that are vital to and support good health and the prevention of disease to underserved populations around the globe.

These emergency response hygiene kits are distributed to those in immediate need during crisis and disaster. The 40,000 kits developed from the event benefited the global charity Children International and sent the kits to families in need in the Philippines.

Venetian Clean Commitment

With casinos on the horizon of opening back up on the Las Vegas Strip and nationwide, it’s the time for casino operators to develop serious safety precautions for staff and visitors to feel safe returning to properties.

The Venetian Las Vegas recently outlined its Venetian Clean Commitment initiative, which was developed through industry and governmental guidance amid the coronavirus pandemic.

It’s a document summary that includes 800 individual initiatives.

Some of those specific initiatives include:

  • Thermal screenings of every entrant to the casino, including staff members and guests, set up at different entry points on the property to monitor an individual’s internal temperature.
  • Venetian Clean “personal care” kit for hotel suite guests.
  • Allowing visitors to masks and gloves when visiting the resort, with the exception of masks that cover the entire face.
  • Rearranging the casino floor and other physical layouts to support social distancing guidelines.
  • State-of-the-art clean technology, including thermal scanners, UV lights for decontaminating shipments and frequently used hotel equipment, and sterilay disinfection wand for retail spaces to disinfect POS systems and other hard surfaces.
  • Additional COVID-19 training to team members.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) provided to every staff member.

Stay Tuned

While the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas remains closed amid the statewide shut down of casinos, we’re happy to see the ways the property is reaching out to help those in need in the Las Vegas area.

The property recently canceled all guest reservations through May 31, and it’s clear that they’re taking the necessary steps and precautions to open back up as safely as they possibly can.
