Changing to a Class 3 Commercial Casino, the Tioga Downs Casino & Resort will be working with Scientific Games for slot gaming options.
Casinos in the United States offer a wide variety of gaming options from slots to table games, lottery and keno. Each casino across the nation are only allowed to offer particular games based on their gaming license. Some venues are Class II gaming facilities and can only offer certain games while other venues have Class III gaming rights and can offer even more games for patrons to enjoy. It was recently announced that Tioga Downs Casino & Resort of New York will now be operating under a Class III commercial casino and resort license. Because of this new licensing option, the venue will be adding slot games and working with Scientific Games to do so.
New Agreement with Scientific Games
Tioga Downs recently signed a new agreement with Scientific Games after a competitive bidding process took place. Scientific Games was the winner and was provided a significant portion of the expansion of the venue to provide slot gaming. The slot floor share of Scientific Games is over 40% and includes 395 slot machines and table gaming products to be added to the casino pit. Scientific Games will also be providing a casino systems suite that is anchored by SDS and CMP slot accounting. Also included is a player tracking system.
With the new agreement, the partnership between the two entities is significantly expanded. The need for additional gaming comes just after the New York State Gaming Commission voted unanimously to provide Tioga with a full gaming license. Along with licensing, the venue has been approved for an upgrade to a full gaming resort which will cost around $195 million.
Happy to be Working Together
Chief Executive of Gaming for Scientific Games, Derik Mooberry, stated that Scientific Games are the only supplier in the industry that can provide the Tioga Downs with a complete portfolio of products for the expansion. The new product solutions are extension at the Tioga Downs which will help the property execute goals for player engagement, rewards programming and promotions. Scientific Games is honored to be working with Tioga Downs as a partner as the casino grows and expands their enterprise.
Jeff Townsend is the Senior Vice President of Operations for the Tioga Downs who stated that the decision to partner with Scientific Games was driven by the commitment of the venue to offer loyal patrons an engaging and entertaining experience driven by robust and secure systems. The gaming venue felt that the product company was the right choice to offer integrated solutions to engage and excite players across the casino floor.
With the expansion, visitors to New York as well as residents nearby will have access to quality casino gaming. The Tioga Downs is only going to gain in popularity as the venue expands and offers even more great gaming options as well as additional amenities on-site.
Tioga Downs now has to wait until the Gaming Commission has approved regulations to govern the four new casinos in the state before they will be able to add the new gaming options alongside their existing video-lottery terminals. The commission has posted several regulations in regards to the slot machines and table games to be added with the rules to be approved this November.
The venue must now focus on installation and setup to be ready for the November time frame when the Gaming Commission provides the final approval and gaming can be underway. Scientific Games will assist in this process to ensure the venue is ready with additional gaming.
