Chicago’s First Casino is Expected to Come in 2025

Chicago

For years, officials in Illinois have been interested in opening a brand-new casino in Chicago. It hasn’t been easy getting this gambling venue up and running. Today, news broke that Chicago’s first casino is expected to open its doors in 2025.

It’s exciting news for gambling fans throughout the state of Illinois. Today, we’ll talk about what’s being done to get this venue built. We’ll also discuss how Illinois’ gambling industry could evolve over the next few years.

Let’s get into it!

Land-Based Casino Restrictions are Being Lifted Around the Country

It’s an exciting time for the casino industry right now. For more than a year, casinos in the US have been seeing major drops in their monthly revenue figures. Fortunately, it’s clear that things are beginning to improve in a big way.

Tourism rates across all of the country’s major gambling hubs are surging. Places like Las Vegas are seeing steady increases in their hotel occupancy levels. As a result, more casinos are choosing to increase their operating hours and have begun offering more entertainment options.

The relaxing of major casino restrictions has also helped this tourism boom. Many of the states around the country have recently loosened many of their regulations inside casinos. As a result, more people around the country are choosing to visit these major gaming hubs.

Las Vegas is set for a big change beginning on June 1. Governor Sisolak recently announced that casinos in the state will be given permission to operate at 100% capacity. Nightclubs and bars can also run at full capacity.

States around the country are now taking a closer look at expanding their gambling options. There are some fantastic new casino-resorts opening around the US soon. That includes Resorts World Las Vegas, the most expensive gaming venue ever built in the city.

For months, lawmakers in Illinois have been talking about opening a gambling venue in the city of Chicago. We’re now beginning to hear more about when this property could be opening its doors!

Here’s a Look at When Chicago’s First Casino is Set to Open

Illinois is home to a large and successful gambling industry. It’s set to expand in a big way, too. Lawmakers passed a new Capital Plan back in 2019 that allows for several new casinos to open around the state.

That includes one in Chicago. Mayor Lori Lightfoot embraces this move and has been working hard to get a casino built in the city. Several issues have gotten in the way of this happening. Fortunately, it appears there is some progress being made recently.

Location has been a major issue with this gambling venue. Officials wanted to ensure it would be built in a place that is easily accessible. Even today, no one seems to know where exactly this property would end up.

The opening date of this venue was also a talking point. This week, we finally received an update on when this casino could open its doors. If all goes according to plan, Chicago’s first casino will finally open its doors by 2025. Mayor Lori Lightfoot gave a statement that discusses the plans yesterday.

“After years of planning, we are beyond excited to begin the RFP process for Chicago’s first casino,” she said. “We look forward to collaborating with world-class operators to develop a premier entertainment destination that will catalyze growth in our dynamic economy, create sustainable, good-paying jobs for our workforce and bring new financial opportunities to our businesses.”

Lightfoot is now asking for formal applications to run this venue. An operator is expected to be chosen in 2022. It will then take a few years for the city’s first major casino-resort to open its doors. Stay tuned for updates!

Illinois’ Sports Betting Industry Could Begin to Shrink Soon

Back in March of 2020, sports betting finally went live in the state of Illinois. It was an extremely exciting time for sports fans here. Some, however, complained about the fact that they had to register in-person in order to make online sports wagers here.

As the pandemic began to intensify around the US, Governor Pritzker decided to scrap the in-person registration rule. Doing so allowed residents in the state to register online to online sportsbooks. This helped the sports betting industry here grow extremely quickly.

Things have begun to relax in recent months around the US. As a result, Pritzker seems focused on once again requiring in-person registrations. Many have pushed against this idea when considering the health crisis around the country is still far from over.

Many also feel this will end up shrinking the state’s sports betting industry. A huge amount of revenue has been flowing in from sports betting lately. That could begin to slow down, as fewer individuals are expected to register if the in-person rule is set in place.

The gambling industry in Illinois is changing quickly. Several new gambling venues are set to open their doors here over the next few years. It now seems that Chicago’s first casino could even open up in 2015. We’ll provide more information on this situation as the months go on.

Will We See a Casino at the Miami Doral Resort?

Trump Miami Doral Resort

Florida is known for having one of the most successful gambling industries in the Southern US. Recently, there has been a major push to allow more casinos in this state. Eric Trump is now working hard to get a casino at the Miami Doral Resort.

Lawmakers in Florida believe more casinos could help to bring in some much-needed revenue right now. Today, we’ll talk about why the Miami Doral Resort is being considered. We’ll also look at some of the other ways the state’s gambling industry could expand.

Let’s get into it!

Florida Casinos Benefit From the State’s Relaxed Restrictions

Florida is home to a huge land-based gambling industry. Many of the gambling venues here are known as “racinos,” offering both horse race betting and a limited set of casino games. There are also some Class III casinos operated by Native American tribes in the state.

Back in March of 2020, this industry took a massive blow. State leaders ordered all casinos in Florida to close their doors. These venues remained closed for months while health officials tried to understand what the country was facing.

This industry is now in recovery mode. Most of the casinos in this state are now open to the public again. Gaming revenue from these venues has been slowly increasing over the past couple of months.

Florida now has some of the most relaxed regulations in the country. Most businesses here are able to operate freely at this point. Health experts are raising concerns, yet the casino industry in Florida is certainly benefiting from this industry.

Of course, Florida is in serious need of tax revenue right now. As a result, many state leaders are expressing interest in allowing more casinos to open their doors here. There are several possible locations being discussed to host one of these new gaming venues.

The Trump Organization is now interested in hosting one of Florida’s new casinos. Here’s what we know about this situation.

Eric Trump Wants to See a Casino at the Miami Doral Resort

Many have been excited to hear about Florida’s push to open more casinos. As restrictions are lifted, more people around the country are expressing excitement to visit casinos. It seems likely that the state will see a huge surge of gaming revenue over the next few months.

This week, Eric Trump began publicly pushing to get a casino at the Miami Doral Resort. This Resort was opened in 1962 and is a popular golf-resort in the Miami area. Eric believes it’s the perfect location to host one of Florida’s new casinos.

“Many people consider Trump Doral to be unmatched from a gaming perspective — at 700 acres, properties just don’t exist of that size and quality in South Florida, let alone in the heart of Miami,” he said.

Interestingly, revenue from this resort has been dropping lately. For several reasons, the Miami Doral Resort isn’t performing as well as other similar venues in the area. A casino, Eric Trump argues, could be the perfect way to reverse this trend.

There are still many steps that will need to be taken in order for this casino to be approved. Ultimately, Governor Jeb Bush will need to give his approval for more casinos to open in Florida. That won’t be easy when considering the relationship between Trump and Bush.

It seems likely that more casinos will be given permission to open in Florida sometime soon. Whether or not we’ll see a casino at the Miami Doral Resort is not yet known. Stay tuned for updates over the next few months!

Sports Betting Plans in Florida are Still Stuck in Place

The US sports betting industry is expanding at a rapid pace. Today, more than half of the country now has a sports gambling industry set in place. Most of these states are earning huge revenue figures from this industry.

Several states in the Southern US now have sports betting platforms up and running. That includes Mississippi and Arkansas. Even states with extremely harsh laws towards gambling such as Georgia are now interested in legalizing this form of gambling.

Unfortunately, Florida has been slow to embrace sports betting. Like California, the state of Florida needs to come to an agreement with a major Native American tribe to get this industry up and running. The Seminole Tribe has been hesitant to give approval lately.

There seems to be some progress, though. In February, a major legislative session was held with sports betting as a primary talking point. Several bills are being presented here to get this industry up and running.

Hope is that sports betting will be approved here before the end of 2021. If both online and land-based sports betting is approved, Florida will likely see huge revenue figures come in. It’s an exciting time for gambling fans in the Sunshine State.

Do you think we’ll see a Miami Doral Resort even open? When do you expect sports betting to become legal in Florida? Let us know in the comments section below.

Danville’s New Casino Plans Are Already Paying Off

Caesars Entertainment Logo

Virginia’s lawmakers continue working to expand the state’s gambling industry. Not long ago, voters approved a measure to open a new casino in the city of Danville. New reports claim that Danville’s new casino plans are already paying off.

Caesars Entertainment is scheduled to operate this new casino. Today, we’ll talk about how this will benefit Danville. We will also look at some of the other states working to bring in casino revenue right now.

Let’s get into it!

Voters Finally Approve Plans to Open a Casino in Danville

It’s been very interesting to see Virginia’s gambling industry expand over the years. As many know, lawmakers here banned almost all forms of gambling for decades. Finally, this past March, officials approved a measure to start allowing commercial casinos in the state.

There were discussions about where the new casinos would end up. Officials in the city of Danville began pushing hard to host one of these venues. Before this could be approved, however, residents in the city would need to vote for its approval.

Many analysts were torn on whether or not this would take place. There have been many vocal anti-gambling advocates making their case heard in the state. On the other hand, many seemed to recognize the revenue potential from this industry.

Earlier this month, voters officially approved the plans to open a new casino in Danville. It was extremely exciting for gambling fans in the area. City leaders also expressed their excitement and claimed this new gambling venue would help to boost tourism.

Virginia’s gambling industry is growing quickly. Many now feel this state could end up becoming one of the largest gaming hubs on the East Coast. More casinos are expected to open here over the next couple of years.

We’re now starting to hear how Danville is already benefiting from its expanded casino plans.

Here’s Another Update on Danville’s Casino Plans

There were many requirements that went into the approval of a casino in Danville. As we mentioned earlier, Caesars Entertainment has been chosen to operate this venue. Under the rules, the company needs to grant Danville $15 million within 30 days of the vote to approve the new casino.

That’s a large amount of money for the city. Officials here have already figured out what some of this money will go toward. $5.9 million will be used to build a new police station off Memorial Drive. It’s unclear where the rest of this money will be allocated.

It’s clear that Danville’s new casino plans will benefit the city in a major way. Ann Vandervliet Stratton, who serves as a member of the Investing in Danville Committee, told the media this money should be used to fund public schools.

“I just hope that they [city officials] find a balance between supporting infrastructure needs to prepare for the casino with prior needs that haven’t historically been addressed,” she said.

The original $15 boost isn’t the only money coming in. Analysts in Virginia believe that this casino will bring in an estimated $38 million to Danville every single year. Officials will need to figure out how to disperse this money, as well.

Danville is almost guaranteed to see a major boost in tourism with this casino open. Of course, hope is that the US land-based casino industry is in a better place by the time this venue actually opens its doors.

More Casino Revenue Reports Are Coming Out!

There’s been more interest in casino revenue this year than ever before. Analysts have been fascinated to see how different states’ casinos have been faring every month. Certain areas of the country are clearly doing better than others.

Las Vegas has been slowly improving over the past nine months. In March, all of the casinos here were completely shut down. They reopened in June, and tourism rates to the city have been slowly increasing ever since. Unfortunately, revenue remains far lower here than it was last year.

New Jersey has been seeing large revenue earnings, as well. Unlike many other states, New Jersey allows both online casinos and online sports betting options. This is helping to bring in a huge amount of revenue every month.

Some of the smaller gambling destinations in the country are seeing different revenue figures. Arkansas has been seeing lower revenue figures than in 2019. The casinos here have been successful in recent months, though.

Much of the progress being made here could soon come to an end, though. Many states are beginning to implement new health regulations right now. Some fear that casinos will eventually be forced to shut down around the country.

The good news is that Danville’s casino plans will benefit the city in a big way. Officials are already looking at ways to use the money coming in. Stay tuned for updates over the next few months!

Caesars Offers Exciting Update on the New Casino in Danville

State of Virginia Made out of Money With Sportsbook Background

Virginia’s casino industry is about to expand. On November 3rd, voters in the state approved a measure to allow a new casino in Danville. This week, Caesars Entertainment offered some exciting new updates on this property.

There are some big changes coming here. Some feel Virginia will soon become one of the largest casino destinations in the United States. Now is a great time to look at what Caesars has planned in Danville.

Let’s get into it!

US Casinos Continue Asking for Aid From the Government

It’s been almost eight months since all of the country’s casinos were forced to shut down. Incredibly, things haven’t improved by very much. Nearly all casinos are still seeing massive drops in their year-on-year revenue earnings.

The biggest US casino companies are suffering right now. Many have recently been forced to implement new safety measures recently. With cases of Covid-19 increasing around the country, casinos are seeing major dips in visitation rates.

Many of these companies are now asking for more aid from the government. Not long ago, the head of the American Gaming Association sent a formal aid request to the federal government. This official claims many of these companies could fail without support.

This includes some of the biggest casino operators in Las Vegas. Not long ago, the Sheldon Adelson-run Las Vegas Sands announced it was interested in selling many of its US casinos. Most agree this decision is due to the state of the country’s land-based casino industry.

Things are clearly tough for all casinos around the country. That doesn’t mean this industry is heading towards a complete downfall, though. Some states are actually working to expand their number of casinos right now.

That includes Virginia. News has just broken that residents here have approved plans to open several more gambling venues.

Virginia Approves Measure to Open New Casino in Danville

Lawmakers in Virginia have been discussing plans to expand the state’s casino industry for years. Much of the focus centered around whether or not to allow a new commercial casino in the city of Danville. Most residents here seemed open to the idea.

Many seemed unwilling to bring this idea to the ballots. Finally, a bill to officially add a new casino in this city was approved earlier this year. It then came down to a public vote appearing on November 3rd.

News has broken that the vote to open a new casino in Danville was passed unanimously. Caesars Entertainment is already selected to operate this new venue. The company released an official statement this week expressing excitement to break into this new city.

“Caesars Entertainment thanks the voters of Danville for their support of the referendum that will bring Caesars Virginia to Danville. We look forward to fulfilling the trust the voters have placed in us by bringing 1,300 good-paying jobs, tourism dollars and economic development to the City, and we are incredibly excited to begin construction,” the statement said. “We’d like to offer our sincere thanks to all of our supporters, especially the City of Danville team, our campaign steering committee, campaign committee co-chairs Delegate Danny Marshall, Mayor Alonzo Jones, Dr. Tiffany Franks and Tammy Wright-Warren, Campaign Director Steven Gould, Josh Norris and the entire campaign staff.”

Officials within Caesars went on to state that this casino would be competitive with the other gambling venues in the state. Groundbreaking is expected to take place in mid-2021. If all goes according to plan, the casino-resort will open its doors to the public by 2023.

It’s an exciting time for gambling fans here. It seems likely that the US casino industry will be back to normal by the time the new casino in Danville opens. We’ll continue offering updates on this venue over the next few months!

The Sports Betting Industry Continues to Grow in the US

There has been a serious debate growing over how the US casino industry will fare over the next few years. It’s an unprecedented time for this industry and things are constantly changing. There’s no doubt that the sports betting industry in the United States is growing rapidly, though.

Back in May of 2018, the US Supreme Court struck down PASPA, allowing each state to set its own laws on sports betting. Within just a few weeks, several states approved this new form of gambling. Today, more than 25 states have approved measures to regulate sports betting.

News has now come out that several states have just approved sports betting legislation. Maryland, South Dakota, and Louisiana have all officially approved measures to allow sports gambling. Officials and residents in these states recognize how much revenue legal sports betting can bring in.

Many of the top European sports betting companies are now making their way into the US market. William Hill has been operating in the country for years. Not long ago, Caesars Entertainment purchased this company and will soon take over all of its US assets.

Virginia approved sports betting legislation this year, yet no sportsbooks have begun operating here yet. Soon, all of the state’s casinos will feature sportsbooks. This should help to bring some much-needed revenue in.

The Push to Open a Casino at Atlanta Motor Speedway Continues

NASCAR Picture

The state of Georgia is known for having some of the strictest gambling laws in the United States. Many want this to change, though. There’s been a recent push to expand the state’s gambling industry. There’s even a push to open a casino at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

This is now looking more likely. Some state officials here believe that this new casino would help boost tourism and revenue in the state. Today, we’re going to give an update on this exciting new casino plan.

Let’s get into it!

There’s Only One Month Left of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series

NASCAR remains one of the most popular sports around the US. Back in March, news broke that this stock car racing league was officially shutting down. It was disappointing news, as the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series was already well underway.

Finally, in May, NASCAR resumed its operations. It was exciting news for the millions of fans around the world. There are some major changes set in place during this season, yet it’s managed to go on without any major issues.

There’s now only one month left in the Cup Series. We’re currently in round 12 of the Cup Championship. Things are extremely competitive right now heading into the Bank of America Roval 400. Many are now flocking to different betting sites to place their bets on the season’s winner.

Bovada, one of the best online sportsbooks in the US, is offering odds on which driver manages to win the 2020 Drivers Championship. At the moment, Kevin Harvick is listed as the betting favorite to win at +175. Denny Hamlin is listed next at +225. Want to go with an underdog? Consider a bet on Joey Logano with odds of +1200.

It’s been a fascinating Cup Series this year. The final race of the season is set to take place on November 8th. Now, many are interested in whether or not the Atlanta Motor Speedway will receive a major upgrade next year.

Here’s what we know about this situation.

More Details On the Casino at Atlanta Motor Speedway Are Coming Out

Prior to 2020, the US casino industry was thriving. Gambling destinations around the country saw massive revenue earnings and new casinos were quickly being constructed. This year, however, the casino industry has taken a massive hit.

At the start of 2020, plans were unveiled to open a new casino at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It was a major surprise for many to hear. Georgia is known for having extremely harsh laws towards the gambling industry and lawmakers have pushed against opening a real casino.

Many now feel this casino would help to benefit the state. The current plan is to construct it directly next to the race track. Speedway Motorsports president and CEO Marcus Smith claims he’s working to obtain a license for this new gambling venue.

“That is a big hope for us,” Smith said. “We’re working in the state of Georgia on the gaming license opportunity, and it’s of course taking longer than we would like and a lot of other people that have been working on it, but we’re hopeful for that. We also think that Atlanta Motor Speedway is a fantastic racetrack, and the drivers and fans have always given it high reviews. So we are optimistic about NASCAR at Atlanta and the Atlanta market.”

This is far from a done deal, though. This casino will need to be approved from the various state government bodies. This will be much easier said than done, yet it seems that many state leaders are getting on-board with the idea.

Will Georgia ever legalize sports betting?

Georgia’s Sports Betting Plans, Explained

Back in May of 2018, the Supreme Court decided to strike down PASPA. It was a monumental decision for the country’s gambling industry. With this law gone, each state could set its own regulations towards sports gambling.

Today, 24 states have officially legalized sports gambling. Most of these states are earning a huge amount of revenue from this industry. Over in Georgia, gambling proponents have been working hard to finally get the state’s sports betting industry up and running.

There have been a few sports betting bills presented here over the past few years. This past September, the Senate Special Judiciary Committee voted to push the state’s new sports gambling bill to the State Senate. It’s exciting news for sports fans.

It’s unclear whether or not this will make its way through the legislative process, though. Georgia’s House and Senate will need to approve the bill. Then, it will need to gain approval from Governor Kemp.

There’s a lot going on here. Soon, we could see a new casino at Atlanta Motor Speedway. There’s also a chance that legal, regulated sports betting could come to Georgia sometime soon. We’ll continue offering updates on this situation over the next few weeks.

Groundbreaking Begins on New Casino in Kings Mountain

North Carolina is set to welcome an exciting new casino-resort soon. For years, the Catawbas Nation has been pushing to open a Vegas-style gambling venue in Kings Mountain, near Charlotte. Today, groundbreaking officially began on this new casino in Kings Mountain.North Carolina Flag

Gambling fans in this state are obviously excited. This new venue is expected to be one of the best casinos ever built in North Carolina. Today, we’re going to look at what is currently planned for this new casino.

Let’s get into it!

Catawbas Nation Wins Approval to Build NC Casino

The past few months have been very interesting for the Catawbas Nation. This tribe has been working hard to open a new casino in North Carolina for years. Interestingly, the tribe is actually based in South Carolina, where most forms of gambling are banned.

It should come as no surprise to hear that the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians disapprove of the Catawbas’ casino plans. The EBCI currently operates the only casinos in North Carolina. This tribe feels that the Catawbas Nation is attempting to illegally break into their state’s gambling market.

Eventually, the Interior Department of North Carolina approved the Catawbas’ plans. Shortly afterward, the ECBI filed a lawsuit against this tribe. They argue that the tribe is “reservation shopping” and plans to open a casino on land that should belong to the EBCI.

Officials within the Catawbas Nation haven’t responded to this lawsuit. State leaders in North Carolina have yet to issue a formal statement on the matter, either. As of now, this tribe has the approval to begin construction on a new casino in Kings Mountain.

The EBCI is doing everything it can to stop these plans. Many residents in the state, however, are excited to hear that a massive new casino is being constructed here. From what’s being said, this will become North Carolina’s most impressive gambling property.

Groundbreaking Has Started on the New Casino in Kings Mountain

The Catawbas Nation has been discussing construction dates for its new casino for weeks. Reports began surfacing last week that groundbreaking would begin this Wednesday. That ended up true, and the first groundbreaking has officially started on this project.

This venue is expected to cost $300 million to construct and open. As of now, the plan is for this casino to open by next spring. This could be delayed if the lawsuit filed by the EBCI begins to gain some steam in court.

Officials within Kings Mountain are excited to hear what’s being planned. The Catawbas Nation claims this new casino will produce 2,600 permanent jobs. 5,000 construction jobs will also be formed to make the casino itself.

Catawba Indian Nation Chief Bill Harris expressed his excitement about the new casino in Kings Mountain this week.

“We celebrate what a tribal government and a local and state government can achieve when they come together and treat each other equally,” he said.

It’s clear that the Catawbas feel this will be a successful casino. The constriction comes at an unusual time, though. Casinos around the country are experiencing major revenue drops and it’s unclear when this trend will change.

Will North Carolina’s sports betting industry help to bring in some much-needed revenue?

North Carolina Will Soon Allow Sports Betting

Back in May of 2018, the Supreme Court struck down PASPA. In doing so, every state in the country was given permission to set its own regulations on sports betting. A little over two years since the removal of PASPA, 24 states have passed laws to regulate the sports betting industry.

That includes North Carolina. Despite being a fairly anti-gambling state over the years, lawmakers in NC decided to approve a measure to allow in-person sports betting in July of last year. Unfortunately, no regulated sports betting options have become available here.

State leaders are still working to come up with specific tax rates and regulations for this new industry. There’s also a bill currently being considered to allow sports betting throughout the state. As of now, the plan is for sports betting to become available inside land-based casinos.

Some feel that sports betting will help bring North Carolina some much-needed revenue. As of now, the casinos here are struggling to bring in money. If online sports betting is allowed, the casino companies in the state can finally start bringing in money again.

It’s still unclear when the state’s sports betting regulations will become available. Obviously, things have been delayed due to the global pandemic. We’ll continue offering updates on this situation over the next few weeks!

Lori Lightfoot Offers an Update on Chicago’s Casino Plans

As June approaches, the US casino industry is slowly getting back on track. More gambling venues are starting to open their doors and revenue is starting to flow in. This week, Mayor Lori Lightfoot offered an update on Chicago’s casino plans.

Lori Lightfoot At Press Conference

Chicago remains one of the worst-hit cities in the United States from the coronavirus. Things have been very slow to open up here. Today, we’re going to discuss when we might see the first casino in Chicago open its doors.

Illinois’ Expanded Casino Plans Are Put On Hold

Illinois isn’t typically thought of as a US gambling hub. Over the past few years, however, lawmakers in this state have begun to see the potential in this industry. Back in June of 2019, state officials approved a new Capital Plan that allows for five new casinos to open up.

That includes a new casino in Chicago. Many politicians here believe that opening a casino in this city will help to boost tourism and bring in a huge amount of revenue. Unfortunately, high tax rates have made it difficult to find a company willing to operate a gambling venue here.

These plans are now being put on hold. As the global pandemic hit, officials in Illinois decided to delay construction on these venues. It’s still not entirely clear where in Chicago this new casino will be constructed.

Not all forms of gambling are completely shut down here, though. In March, lawmakers officially legalized sports betting. Both online and land-based sports wagering options are now available in the state.

Things seem to be improving around the country. As we already mentioned, many states are already opening up their casino industries. This week, the Mayor of Chicago talked more about opening the proposed casino in Chicago.

Mayor Lightfoot Gives An Update On Chicago’s Casino Plans

Many were excited to hear that a casino was being planned for Chicago. Illinois is known for having a large gambling fan base. Despite the trouble finding a company to run this new gaming venue, most felt it would be highly successful.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot recently spoke about building this new casino. She feels that it should become part of a much larger “entertainment complex” built within the city.

“I see this as a large entertainment district — not just the box of a casino. In order for us to maximize this once-in-a-generation opportunity that the General Assembly has given us and to maximize the opportunity for revenue, for jobs, for long-term economic viability of the city and, of course, to address our pension debt, we‘ve got to be thoughtful and intentional about what we’re designing so it’s something that attracts people from all over the world,” she said.

Lightfoot went further, claiming that she and many other city officials want to see progress made.

“That’s what I see. Chicago is a global city. We need a world-class entertainment district, of which a casino is a part, but not the entirety. So there’s a lot of work that needs to be done between now and then and we’re anxious to get started.”

It was exciting to hear this update on Chicago’s casino plans. Unfortunately, Lightfoot is still unwilling to reveal where this gaming venue will open its doors. We’re likely to hear more about the opening of this casino over the next few weeks.

Nearby States Begin Looking to Reopen Casinos

It’s not entirely clear when the casinos in Illinois will open back up to the public. Covid-19 infection rates remain high in this state. Many lawmakers are beginning to take a closer look at getting the state’s gaming industry running again, though.

Some nearby states have recently announced they plan to reopen their casinos. That includes Missouri. This week, state leaders announced that two casinos in the St. Louis area are scheduled to open up this weekend.

Until Illinois’ casinos open, many gambling fans in this area are likely to play inside these Missouri gaming venues.

Incredibly, the casinos in Las Vegas are scheduled to open up next week. It was a long and difficult road to get these plans approved. Governor Sisolak seems content with the safety measures set in place and is allowing several major casino-resorts to open their doors on June 4th.

Lori Lightfoot has just offered an update on Chicago’s casino plans. She wants to see an entire entertainment center built in this city. When and where this casino-resort will be constructed is still unknown.

Opening of a New Casino in Pope County May be Delayed

Oklahoma is home to a huge number of popular tribal casinos. More are continuing to open around the state every few years. This weekend, the Cherokee Tribe’s attempt to open a new casino in Pope County started facing trouble from an anti-casino group in the state.

Oklahoma Casinos

It’s unfortunate news, especially considering the way the land-based casino industry is faring right now. Today, we’re going to take a look at why this group is pushing against the opening of the new gambling venue.

Let’s get into it!

All Casinos in Oklahoma Are Closed

This is the most unusual time in the history of the US gambling industry. Never before have all of the country’s casinos been forced to close. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what’s happening right now due to the spread of the new coronavirus, called Covid-19.

Since March, all casinos in the state of Oklahoma have been closed to the public. Health officials warn that these venues are ideal places for a virus to spread. It remains unclear when the state’s casinos will be able to open their doors again.

Obviously, this has resulted in a huge loss of revenue. Many Native American tribes in the state rely on their casinos for funding. Due to the closing of these venues, many are losing out on millions of dollars every single month.

Rates of Covid-19 continue to rise in Oklahoma. As of today, 1,868 individuals have been confirmed positive here. An additional 74 cases were recorded over the past 24 hours. Most experts believe the true number of cases is significantly higher.

As long as infection rates are increasing, casinos in the state are likely to remain shut down. That doesn’t mean certain groups aren’t already looking to the future, though. Unfortunately, even tribes looking to open new casinos in the state are facing backlash.

Anti-Gambling Group Fights Against New Casino in Pope County

Oklahoma’s casino laws are constantly changing. New regulations are occasionally introduced that allow for more gambling venues to be built in the state. Back in 2018, the state approved Constitutional Amendment 100, which allows a new casino to be constructed in Pope and Jefferson Counties.

Under the amendment, the new casinos must gain approval from local officials. Interestingly, a clause was introduced that claims only local officials present at the time of the application submittal need to approve the casino plans. Eventually, the Cherokee Tribe introduced plans to open a new casino in Pope County.

Local officials seemed happy with the proposed $38.8 million casino. Not everyone wants to see this venue built, though. A major anti-casino group in the state is now claiming that the approval of this casino goes against a restraining order set in place last December.

This group, called Citizens for a Better Pope County, sued the Racing Commission in December, resulting in a temporary restraining order. They now feel the Commission has no ability to approve a casino license while the restraining order is set in place.

“The Commission runs the risk of violating the [restraining order] with its announced course of action,” said Jerry Malone, an attorney for the Citizens for a Better Pope County. “Additionally, various counts in the Second Amended Complaint raise substantive allegations that it constitutes an illegal exaction for the Commission to expend taxpayer dollars in consideration of Cherokee Nation’s Good Cause Shown Application.”

Members of the Cherokee Nation have not yet commented on this legal situation. We’ll need to wait and see what steps are taken to approve the new casino in Pope County over the next few weeks.

Oklahoma Lawmakers and Tribes Are Still Arguing in Court

The legal fight between the Cherokee and the anti-gambling group isn’t the only one taking place in Oklahoma. For months, other tribes in the state have been in a bitter dispute with Oklahoma’s leaders. This fight is all about gambling revenue.

Kevin Stitt, the Governor of Oklahoma, believes that the gaming compacts signed with tribes more than 15 years ago have expired. He claims it’s now time to negotiate the terms of these compacts. This includes seeing more of the casino revenue going to the state.

Stitt, along with many other state politicians, now believes that these tribes are operating their casinos illegally. Despite these opinions, the tribes are continuing to go about business as usual. Thus far, negotiations between the state and tribes have been largely unsuccessful.

Plans to open the new casino in Pope County have been introduced. It seemed as if they had been approved, as well. The Citizens for a Better Pope County are now working to keep this casino from ever opening its doors.

As we said earlier, this is a very unusual time for the state’s casino industry. Hopefully, things begin getting back to normal over the next month or two.

Proposed Indian Springs Casino is Now Officially Approved

Nevada is set to welcome another casino. This week, the state’s Gaming Control Board approved the licensing for a proposed Indian Springs Casino. It’s exciting news for residents in this area, about 45 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

Nevada Sign On Highway

It’s not entirely clear when this new gambling venue will open its doors. At the moment, all casinos in Nevada are currently closed down. Today, we’re going to discuss what exactly is happening in this state.

Let’s get into it!

Governor Sisolak Orders More Statewide Closures

Since early March, lawmakers in Nevada have been looking at ways to combat the new coronavirus. It’s been quickly spreading around the country and hundreds of cases are now confirmed in Clark County. In mid-March, Governor Sisolak announced that all non-essential businesses were being forced to close their doors.

It was an extremely tough blow to the state’s economy. As most are well-aware, several cities in Nevada rely heavily on their tourism and gambling industries. This is especially true in Las Vegas, where many of the country’s biggest casino-resorts are located.

All casinos in the state are currently closed. This week, the Governor announced another set of measures. This time, he said that all sporting and recreation venues, golf courses, and showrooms are all now officially closed.

New measures are also being introduced at grocery stores. For at least the next few weeks, these stores will limit the number of people being let in. Employees must also stay at least six feet away from customers.

There were some that hoped things would return to normal by early April. That does not appear to be the case. Additional regulations are being set around the state and more are likely to come here over the next few weeks.

Indian Springs Casino Gains Approval From Control Board

There are a huge number of casinos spread around Nevada. Not all of these are located in Las Vegas and Reno. It’s easy to find great gambling venues all around the entire state. This week, a proposed casino has been approved by the state’s Gaming Control Board.

For years, groups have worked to open an Indian Springs casino. This town is located northwest of Las Vegas and residents here have expressed a desire to see a gambling venue. Fortunately, plans for this new casino have been officially approved.

During an online meeting, the Control Board approved a license for Herbst IS Holdings LLC to open a casino in this town. Now, the company will need to gain approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission. If this happens later this month, the casino may be opened by Memorial Day.

This won’t be the first Indian Springs casino to open. The first one began operating here back in the mid-1980s. It was forced to close down in 2014 after the nearby Air Force Base decided to purchase the land that this venue sat on.

Tim Herbst, the manager for Herbst Holdings, claims this new casino will feature 75 slot machines, an eight-pump gas station, and a charging station for electric vehicles. It’s an extremely exciting time for residents in this area. Hopefully, things in the state will be back to normal by the proposed opening date.

Atlantic City Casinos Continue to Lose Revenue

There’s no doubt that Las Vegas is the biggest and most profitable gambling destination in the country. Over the past few years, Atlantic City has emerged as a close second. This city in New Jersey is home to many great casino-resorts and revenue was increasing here considerably for the past few months.

That is no longer the case, though. Due to the coronavirus, revenue in this city has plummeted. All of the casinos in Atlantic City have been forced to shut down. According to some reports, these venues are losing up to $500 million every single month.

It’s an extremely difficult situation. Some are pointing to the recession of 2008 when many gambling venues in this city were forced to permanently close. It’s still unclear how long many of the casinos here will be able to hold out during this situation.

In fact, the entire US land-based casino industry is now shut down. Casinos around the country are unable to open their doors to the public. Many are claiming they will not be able to survive long under the current conditions.

Many are happy to see the proposed Indian Springs casino gain approval. Residents in Nevada are looking for some positive news during this unprecedented time.

Plans for a Gambling Venue in Southeast MA Take a Step Forward

For now, only three casinos are operating in the state of Massachusetts. One is located in Everett, near Boston. The other is found in Springfield and another is located in Plainville. Recently, officials in a different part of the state began pushing for the right to open another casino. It may be some time before a gambling venue in Southeast MA is able to operate, though.Massachusetts State Symbol

This state’s gambling industry is in an unusual place. Today, we’re going to talk about how the current casinos here are performing. We’ll also look at the likelihood of this new casino opening in the future.

Let’s get into it!

The Casino Competition in Massachusetts Continues

Not long ago, Massachusetts had no gambling venues operating. Lawmakers here took steps to ban traditional casino gambling. Finally, in 2011, state officials passed a set of laws to allow three land-based casinos to start operating.

The first to open was the MGM Springfield, run by MGM Resorts International. At first, this venue was expected to be hugely successful. As time went on, this casino resort began to lose a significant amount of revenue.

Part of the reason for this revenue decline was the opening of the Encore Boston Harbor, owned by Wynn Resorts. This new casino captured a huge portion of the state’s gambling market, including many individuals who previously made bets inside the MGM Springfield. Since opening, this venue has earned more revenue than all of the other state’s gaming properties.

Things began improving for MGM Springfield in January. That month, this property saw its revenue increase by $2 million. The Plainridge Park Casino, MA’s third gaming venue, had a revenue increase of $1 million.

Not everyone is pleased with the way things are. Many individuals in parts of the state without a gambling venue feel the laws set in place are unfair. Here’s what’s happening with this situation.

New Push for a Gambling Venue in Southeast MA

As of now, only three casinos are legally able to operate in Massachusetts. Some state officials feel this is unfair. Back in October, a new bill was introduced to allow a new gambling venue in Southeast MA to begin operating.

The South Shore Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recently endorsed this bill. Peter Forman, South Shore Chamber President and CEO, commented on these plans to the media this week.

“We find it troubling that Southeastern Massachusetts is almost effectively blocked under current law from even considering a gaming option,” he said. “Your legislation will enable an open and competitive process that will lead to the best possible solution for the region, one that compliments the tourism industry and the region’s economic strength.”

Promoting tourism in this area is one of the main reasons why people are pushing for a gambling venue in Southeast MA. Under the current bill, the state’s Gaming Commission could offer a slots-only license for this new property.

There are still many steps that need to be taken for this venue to be approved. Most analysts feel it will not begin operating for at least a year. It will be interesting to see how lawmakers feel about these new plans.

Coronavirus Already Affects Massachusetts Casinos

Back in December, a new coronavirus called Covid-19 emerged in Wuhan, China. Since that time, the virus has spread to countries all over the world and has affected more than 100,000 individuals. The death toll from Covid-19 is now nearing 4,000 individuals.

There are serious concerns that the virus will become uncontainable. As of now, efforts to prevent its spread have been largely ineffective. Unsurprisingly, many people are choosing not to travel due to fears of this virus.

It’s also taking a serious toll on the country’s gambling industry. People are less willing to gamble inside casinos, where a huge number of people are crammed into a small area. According to some reports, the casinos in Massachusetts are already experiencing revenue drops due to the coronavirus.

Interestingly, more people are now choosing to play casino games online. Sites like Bovada, which offer a huge number of different casino games online, are growing more popular every single month. This trend is likely to continue as the virus spreads.

We’ll need to wait and see whether or not the gambling venue in Southeast MA is approved. Stay tuned for updates over the next few months!
