Will We See a Casino at the Miami Doral Resort?

Trump Miami Doral Resort

Florida is known for having one of the most successful gambling industries in the Southern US. Recently, there has been a major push to allow more casinos in this state. Eric Trump is now working hard to get a casino at the Miami Doral Resort.

Lawmakers in Florida believe more casinos could help to bring in some much-needed revenue right now. Today, we’ll talk about why the Miami Doral Resort is being considered. We’ll also look at some of the other ways the state’s gambling industry could expand.

Let’s get into it!

Florida Casinos Benefit From the State’s Relaxed Restrictions

Florida is home to a huge land-based gambling industry. Many of the gambling venues here are known as “racinos,” offering both horse race betting and a limited set of casino games. There are also some Class III casinos operated by Native American tribes in the state.

Back in March of 2020, this industry took a massive blow. State leaders ordered all casinos in Florida to close their doors. These venues remained closed for months while health officials tried to understand what the country was facing.

This industry is now in recovery mode. Most of the casinos in this state are now open to the public again. Gaming revenue from these venues has been slowly increasing over the past couple of months.

Florida now has some of the most relaxed regulations in the country. Most businesses here are able to operate freely at this point. Health experts are raising concerns, yet the casino industry in Florida is certainly benefiting from this industry.

Of course, Florida is in serious need of tax revenue right now. As a result, many state leaders are expressing interest in allowing more casinos to open their doors here. There are several possible locations being discussed to host one of these new gaming venues.

The Trump Organization is now interested in hosting one of Florida’s new casinos. Here’s what we know about this situation.

Eric Trump Wants to See a Casino at the Miami Doral Resort

Many have been excited to hear about Florida’s push to open more casinos. As restrictions are lifted, more people around the country are expressing excitement to visit casinos. It seems likely that the state will see a huge surge of gaming revenue over the next few months.

This week, Eric Trump began publicly pushing to get a casino at the Miami Doral Resort. This Resort was opened in 1962 and is a popular golf-resort in the Miami area. Eric believes it’s the perfect location to host one of Florida’s new casinos.

“Many people consider Trump Doral to be unmatched from a gaming perspective — at 700 acres, properties just don’t exist of that size and quality in South Florida, let alone in the heart of Miami,” he said.

Interestingly, revenue from this resort has been dropping lately. For several reasons, the Miami Doral Resort isn’t performing as well as other similar venues in the area. A casino, Eric Trump argues, could be the perfect way to reverse this trend.

There are still many steps that will need to be taken in order for this casino to be approved. Ultimately, Governor Jeb Bush will need to give his approval for more casinos to open in Florida. That won’t be easy when considering the relationship between Trump and Bush.

It seems likely that more casinos will be given permission to open in Florida sometime soon. Whether or not we’ll see a casino at the Miami Doral Resort is not yet known. Stay tuned for updates over the next few months!

Sports Betting Plans in Florida are Still Stuck in Place

The US sports betting industry is expanding at a rapid pace. Today, more than half of the country now has a sports gambling industry set in place. Most of these states are earning huge revenue figures from this industry.

Several states in the Southern US now have sports betting platforms up and running. That includes Mississippi and Arkansas. Even states with extremely harsh laws towards gambling such as Georgia are now interested in legalizing this form of gambling.

Unfortunately, Florida has been slow to embrace sports betting. Like California, the state of Florida needs to come to an agreement with a major Native American tribe to get this industry up and running. The Seminole Tribe has been hesitant to give approval lately.

There seems to be some progress, though. In February, a major legislative session was held with sports betting as a primary talking point. Several bills are being presented here to get this industry up and running.

Hope is that sports betting will be approved here before the end of 2021. If both online and land-based sports betting is approved, Florida will likely see huge revenue figures come in. It’s an exciting time for gambling fans in the Sunshine State.
