The casino industry on the East Coast has expanded tremendously over the last couple of years. Now is a great time to talk about what Wynn Resorts has planned in Massachusetts.

Let’s get into it!

More Information on Wynn Resorts’ Everett Casino Expansion Plans is Coming Out

Massachusetts approved a law to allow casinos back in 2011. Three casinos have since opened in the state, including the Encore Boston Harbor, located in Everett. This property is owned and operated by Wynn Resorts and is considered to be one of the best casinos in the United States.

This venue has seen its ups and downs over the past couple of years. 2020 was a hugely difficult year for casinos around the country. Things began to turn around in 2021 and the Encore Boston Harbor experienced impressive revenue gains throughout the year.

It now seems that Wynn Resorts is planning to capitalize on this growth in Massachusetts. More information on Wynn Resorts’ Everett casino expansion plans is starting to come out. Most notable is the company’s plans to open a 1,800-seat entertainment venue just across the street from this casino. Wynn Resorts also plans to open new restaurants and a massive garage.

Joe Delaney, the community affairs chief of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, spoke to the media about this situation yesterday.

“She had indicated to me that they had reduced the size of the theater, the entertainment venue, to under 1,000 seats — whether that’s 900, 950, 999, I don’t know, we’ll be finding that out very shortly — with that they said they intend to keep the pedestrian crossing across Broadway and so on, and the exact location of that will depend on whether or not the venue is considered part of the gaming establishment. So we’ll talk about all of those things,” Delaney said.

It’s exciting news for casino fans in the Boston area. Wynn Resorts is planning to make this casino even more enjoyable. Stay tuned for updates on these plans over the next few months!

Will Massachusetts Legalize Sports Betting in 2022?

The US sports betting industry continues to grow at a staggering pace. A huge number of states around the country now have legal and regulated sports betting options available. That does not include Massachusetts, despite the efforts by various lawmakers in the state.

State officials came very close to approving a sports gambling bill in 2021. The Senate ended up concluding its legislative session before this could be accomplished. There is now bipartisan support for the legalization of sports betting in this state and all signs point to this happening before the end of 2022.

Several bills have already been presented for this to happen. Most of these bills will allow for both land-based and online sports betting to be made legal. The House and Senate are working to come to agreements on the tax rate and individual rules to monitor this industry.

Sports fans in the state have reason to celebrate. Massachusetts is home to a massively passionate sports fan base. There is reason to believe that it will quickly develop one of the largest sports gambling markets in the country.

Competition in the Northeastern US gambling industry continues to grow. Let’s take a quick look at some of the other states expanding their gambling industries right now.

Northeastern States Continue to Grow Their Gaming Industries

Massachusetts has developed a large and successful gambling industry over the past decade. It’s still not nearly as established as the ones in other states in the region. The Northeastern US has quickly turned into a true gambling hub with a huge number of great gambling options currently available across multiple states.

New Jersey remains the largest gambling destination here. This state is home to a huge number of popular casinos and various sports gambling options. 2021 was a successful year for the gaming operators here, yet they continue to face growing competition from nearby states.

New York has begun to significantly expand its gaming industry in recent years. Not long ago, the first online sportsbooks went live here. In just their first three weeks of operating, these sportsbooks have seen more than $1 billion worth of bets flow in.

Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Rhode Island are working to earn more tax revenue from their gambling industries right now. More casinos and sports betting options are becoming available in these states all the time.
