Rivers Casino Des Plaines says that it is set to open its new Poker Room later this month.

Part of the casino’s $87 million expansion, the 5,600 square foot poker area is the fourth poker room to open in Illinois after the ones at Grand Victoria Casino Elgin, Hollywood Casino Aurora, and Bally’s Quad Cities.

Rush Street Gaming CEO Greg Carlin talked about the expansion as a whole in a previous interview:

“With this proposed expansion, we will be able to offer our guests more of the entertainment and dining options they enjoy, additional gaming opportunities and a long-desired poker room. We have always offered a first-class experience for our guests. As the economy reopens, we’re excited to raise the bar and provide them with an even better experience.”

78,000 Square Foot Expansion

As stated above, the Poker Room is part of the casino thrust to expand its area by an additional 78,000 square feet. The expansion was built between the existing casino building and the parking garage located at the north side of the gambling property.

The ground level addition which opened last January 24, 2022 houses an Asian-themed restaurant with a new and larger menu that includes an expanded dimsum offering. Meanwhile, the second floor addition includes a new slot machine area, a 10,000 square foot ballroom and the 22-table Poker Room.

One of Three Finalists for Chicago Casino

The Rivers Casino Des Plaines is one of six full service casinos owned by Rush Street Gaming, a company formed in the 1990s by Real Estate developer Neil Bluhm and now CEO Carlin, both Chicago natives.

Rush Street Gaming is eyeing a 7th casino presence with Rivers 78, a project it shares with developer Related Midwest. Rivers 78 is one of the three finalists for the downtown Chicago Casino project along with Bally’s Tribune Publishing Center and Hard Rock One Central. City Mayor Lori Lightfoot is set to announce the winning bidder in early summer.
