The state of Pennsylvania is home to one of the country’s largest casino industries. It seems that business has been good for the gaming properties here. Reports have just surfaced that show Pennsylvania’s July casino revenue has broken new records.
It’s exciting news for the gambling companies here. Pennsylvania is quickly turning into one of the hottest casino markets in the United States. Now is a great time to talk about how long this upward trend will continue.
Let’s get into it!
Breaking Down Pennsylvania’s July Casino Revenue Figures
Pennsylvania is not typically thought of as one of the country’s premier gambling destinations. That could soon change, though. A huge number of land-based casinos are currently operating here. Both online casinos and sports betting are available, too.
It seems the land-based casinos here had their best-ever month last July. Reports on Pennsylvania’s July casino revenue were just released to the public. Some analysts were surprised to hear these properties generated $423 million in total gross gaming revenue.
That has officially broken the record for the most successful month in history for the state’s casino industry. It also smashed June’s revenue figures by more than $35 million. Certain casinos here managed to perform far better than others.
The Parx Casino in Bucks County saw the highest GGR at $64 million. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh came next at $34 million. Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington also had a successful month, bringing in $20.6 million through their casino operations. Some are now wondering how long the casinos in this state can keep this momentum going.
Will PA’s Casino Industry Continue to Break Revenue Records?
Pennsylvania is home to a huge number of world-class casinos. For much of 2020, all of these properties were shut down and saw their revenue figures plummet. Things have turned around and casinos in the state are now experiencing their highest revenue figures to date.
Analysts are now questioning how long this trend will continue. There is reason to be optimistic. August and September tend to be great months for the US casino industry. It would not be a shock to see new records set during these months.
Things are almost certain to cool down for land-based casinos over the winter months. Fortunately, the state’s online casino options will likely help to make up for some of the lost revenue. Pennsylvania has already generated a huge amount of revenue from its internet casino operations set in place a few years ago.
Pennsylvania may be on track to becoming the largest casino hub in the Northeastern United States. The sports betting industry also appears to be thriving. Now is the perfect time to look at how much the sports gambling operators managed to bring in last month.
Pennsylvania’s Sports Betting Revenue Takes Slight Dip in July
Lawmakers in Pennsylvania have truly begun to embrace the sports betting industry over the past few years. Sports betting became legal here toward the end of 2018. Both land-based and online sportsbooks are legal and regulated in the state.
Like most other areas of the country, Pennsylvania saw a dip in its sports betting revenue last July. $304 million was placed on sports bets last month. The sports betting operators here managed to bring in a combined $27.5 million in revenue.
July tends to be the worst month of the year for the sports betting industry. This is largely due to the lack of major sporting events that take place. Most analysts expect to see a large increase over August and heading into the fall with the start of the 2021/2022 NFL season.
