Online Sportsbooks Launches via Hard Rock Atlantic City

Summary: The Hard Rock Atlantic City Casino has launched their online sports book this week.

Sports betting is fully operational in New Jersey, with several operators offers land based as well as online gaming options. The state continues to soar above the rest of the nation by way of gambling offerings, with online gaming taking center stage. New Jersey is one of only a handful of states that offers online sports betting along with casino and poker games. This week, the Hard Rock Atlantic City launched their online sportsbook, offering one more option for visitors to the state.

Soft Launch Begins

Hard Rock Atlantic CityBefore a sportsbook can be fully operational, they must complete a soft launch. The online sportsbook did so over the weekend, going live soon after they were given conditional approval by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. The testing phase is basically done with the sportsbook operating in full force.

The site opened just in time as the Super Bowl is this weekend, the busiest weekend of the year for sports betting companies. With the launch, the Hard Rock sportsbook becomes the 10th online offering in New Jersey. The option is the first for the Hard Rock, as the brand decided to go online first before opening their land-based option.

Partnered with Gaming Innovation Group

The Hard Rock sportsbook is being powered by the Gaming Innovation Group, a company based in Malta. The company is also behind the brand’s online casino, an offering that launched not long after the land-based casino opened in June of last year.

For Hard Rock customers, the sportsbook and the casino have a shared walled. This makes it easy for players to enjoy online casino games as well as sports betting. Players can easily switch back and forth to whatever they wish to enjoy.

Several sports are available for wagering at Hard Rock including the popular sports of auto racing, basketball, baseball, boxing, golf, tennis, MMA, football, soccer and more.

As for the retail sportsbook, the Hard Rock has provided information since last year on what they will be providing. Officials targeted this year as the opening date, but it will most likely be some time before the land-based venue is ready to open.

In the past, the Hard Rock International SVP of online gaming, Kresimir Spajic, commented that the partnership with GiG has shown the company is innovative, capable and flexible, with the qualities coming together to ensure a quality sportsbook for the casino. Hard Rock felt that their extension with GiG involving their partnership will enable the brand to reach their goal of beginning the online gaming and sports betting leader in New Jersey.

Now it will be interesting to see how the online sportsbook fares. By the end of February, there will be a full month of operation figures to review. How much the sportsbook takes in will be a good indicator as to how successful the brand will be in this new venture.

The sportsbetting option will bring about even more revenues to the state, as the gambling industry continues to grow at a rapid pace with no signs of slowing down. We will report on the figures as they are released so that our readers can see how the state is progressing with their huge gambling industry, both online and land-based.
