The Omaha casino development is progressing slowly as officials are still trying to establish the rules and regulations needed to get casino gaming in the state rolling.
Final Draft to be Released November 12th
According to Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission executive director Tom Sage, the final draft of casino regulations is set ot be released on November 12th. Sage added that the Commission has been working on the rules for the last few months after recieving a consultant’s report in early September. It has also fielded comments from the public and the gaming industry and has incorporated those suggestions.
Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the proposed rules during their next meeting on scheduled for December 17th. Because of the expected interest from industry members and he public, the commission says it is contemplating of holding the meeting at the Nebraska Innovation Campus
Omaha and Lincoln Casino Projects
Ho Chunk Inc says that it is aiming to develop casinos in Omaha and Lincoln in partnership with the Nebraska Horsemen. The construction of the Omaha project will hopefully begin in late winter or early spring. The plan is to build a major facility at the Horsemen’s Park. Warhorse Casino will be a facility that is worth more than $200M.
As for horse racing, the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission has already approved numerous racing event for 2022. Fonner Park in Grand Island will have 37 days of racing from February 19 to May 21, 2022. Columbus Exposition and Racing has been approved for 12 days beginning May 27th until June 25th while Horsemen’s Park and Lincoln Race Course will have on day each on a date TBD. Hastings Exposition will also have one day of racing and South Sioux City Racing will have two.
