Many states across the US offer lottery gaming. For players, it’s simply about purchasing tickets and hoping for a big win. Rarely do we consider what goes on as far as the creation of gaming options as well as the daily operations of the state lottery. However, the operations, including relationships between the states and vendors of lottery gaming is very important. Just recently, the Texas State Lottery Commission decided to continue working with IGT Global Solutions Corporation in regards to lottery gaming, signing a six year extension to their current contract. The two will continue working together until August 31st 2026.

Long-Term Relationship

The Texas Lottery and the IGT group have a long standing relationship. The two have worked together since 1992 and will continue to do so for years to come. The partnership will help players in the state to continue to have access to quality gaming as well as seeing much needed funds provided to public education as well as programs for veterans.

Senior Vice Presidnet of IGT, Jay Gendron, stated that the company welcomes the opportunity to extend their longstanding partnership with the Texas Lottery. The state lottery is held in high regard having raised over $25 billion for quality causes since lottery ticket sales first began back in 1992. IGT looks forward to continuing their relationship with the Texas Lottery, helping the lottery to maximize the contributions made towards programs created for veterans as well as public education in the state.

The Chairman of the Texas Lottery Commission, J. Winston Krause, commented on the extension of the contract as well by stating that the decision is good government and a testament to the strong contract monitoring and compliance work of the Lottery. The extension of the contract will position the Lottery to be able to continue producing record revenues for the education of children in the state as well as provide for veterans, at the same time, being smart and responsible stewards of state funds.

Krause further stated that the Texas Lottery is appreciative of the outstanding job that has been performed by IGT as the operator of the lottery gaming in the state of Texas. Krause feels that IGT shares in the Lottery’s passion for innovation and the pursuit to provide the residents of the state with the best entertainment experience that can be found via the gaming products.

What does the Extension Entail?

Most companies who are involved with the gaming industry will extend a contract with a company and at the same time make changes or concessions to be able to be successful. With this extension, IGT will still be providing the Texas Lottery with what they have before including lottery central systems, field sales organization, data center operations, warehouse and distribution, retail equipment and support, marketing services and call center applications.

For the fiscal year of 2016, the Texas Lottery was able to see record sales which include $5.067bn in contributions. The state lottery actually sits in the number five position in terms of total sales when it comes to lottery sales in the United States.

IGT remains a top company when it comes to the gaming industry. The company has their hand in several areas of gaming, not just the lottery. The company also focuses on providing betting solutions and services along with interactive products for gaming, iLottery and Betting. With this new extension, the company just further solidifies their brand as a top provider of lottery solutions in the United States and beyond.
