Set to open this June, Hard Rock Atlantic City has announced a partnership with NetEnt to enter the online gaming scene in New Jersey.
The Hard Rock Atlantic City Casino will be a new venue opening on June 28th, taking up residency within the former Trump Taj Mahal. The casino is being operated by Hard Rock International and is the talk of the town as gamblers anticipate the opening of the property. It wasn’t long after the casino was purchased that Hard Rock began to show interest in the online gambling industry of New Jersey. The brand wants to offer online gaming as well, applying for licensing soon after purchasing the gambling property.
Back in February, it was announced that Hard Rock would be working with Gaming Innovation Group to provide online gaming in the region. The back-end operations will be managed by Gaming Innovation Group as well as the creation of the digital consumer portal. Now, Hard Rock has announced they will be working with NetEnt for content within their online casino site.
NetEnt is a well-known company based in Europe that provides digital gaming solutions for online operators. The company is ready to provide their popular games to Hard Rock via their online casino. Since the 1990s, NetEnt has been a vital provider of online gaming options in Europe, so it is no surprise that they are showing interest in the United States. NetEnt already has partnered with operators in Atlantic City for online gaming including 888Casino, Caesars and Golden Nugget.
Commenting on the new partnership, Hard Rock International Senior Vice President of Online Gaming, Kresimi Spajic, stated that the company is delighted to partner with NetEnt and look forward to online casino growth for the Hard Rock brand via the leading gaming titles and digital casino expertise of their new partner.
It has yet to be revealed what games will be offered via Hard Rock’s online casino via NetEnt, but it should be expected that the most popular titles will go live first. Such top hits include Divine Fortune and Planet of the Apes slot games.
Many analysts have wondered how the market would be impacted with Hard Rock Atlantic City to open this summer along with a second venue, the Ocean Resort Casino. Both will offer land-based gaming as well as online services. The Atlantic City area has been short on gaming venues for a few years now, after four casinos shut down in 2014 and one in 2016. With the addition of Hard Rock and Ocean Resort, the total casinos in operation will be nine.
As far as online gaming is concerned, there does not seem to be any signs that oversaturation will occur. The online gaming industry of the state continues to thrive month after month. Surpassing the $20 million in revenue earnings mark month after month, New Jersey is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.
It will be interesting to see how the market changes once the two new online casinos begin to offer online gaming services. The overall totals will of course change which will only push New Jersey further into the lead when it comes to United States online casino and poker gaming. But it is also important to consider the status of existing online casinos. For a long time, the Golden Nugget has stayed in the top spot at the number one online operator. Tropicana and Borgata have switched the number two spot back and forth. Will Hard Rock or Ocean Resorts give the operators a run for their money? It will certainly be interesting to watch and see!
