Foxwoods Resort Casino Provides Walkthrough of New Protocols Prior to Reopening

Foxwood Casino OutsideA handful of Connecticut casinos are expected to reopen as soon as next week despite the concerns of Governor Ned Lamont.

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council, which oversees gaming operations at Foxwoods Resort Casino, announced the property will reopen at 9:00 a.m. on June 1. A statement on the property’s official website notes its 24/7 hours of operation will resume after a phased reopening.

Rodney Butler, the Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, said the real key to a successful reopening is ensuring casino patrons wear masks and stay mindful of social distancing.

Foxwoods Resort Casino Reopening Plan

All guests and employees at Foxwoods Resort Casino will be required to wear a face mask. Patrons who arrive without a mask will be provided with one upon entry. Inside, thermal scanners will measure each customer’s body temperature.

Valet service has been temporarily suspended, as guests cannot reasonably adhere to social distancing guidelines in that area of the property. Accordingly, the casino also plans to keep its poker rooms closed.

Foxwoods’ new safety plan specifies food and beverage facilities will be subject to limited capacity. However, the resort is completely foregoing buffet service until all health and safety protocols can be addressed. Spas, entertainment venues, and the bingo hall will remain closed for the foreseeable future as well.

Visitors who intend on shopping while their travel partner plays in the casino should heed the new protocols for Foxwoods-owned stores. During Phase One of the reopening plan, The Tanger Outlets will limit retail shopping to essential items, which include beverages, toiletries, and pre-package food. All sales are considered final until further notice.
