8 New Sports Betting Kiosks Open at Arizona’s We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort

A year after opening its doors, the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort has expanded into the world of sports betting. On Tuesday, November 23rd, a total of eight new sports betting kiosks opened throughout the casino resort. With the self-serve kiosks, players are able to wager on sports while at the Fort McDowell-based casino resort. Players will be able to place a variety of bets including parlays, props, futures, and more.

The Kiosks are divided into two different sections of the casino resort. The first half of the new kiosks can be found on the casino floor. Players will be able to place their bets and claim their winnings without needing to stray too far from the other casino games.

The remaining kiosks can be found at the WKP Sports & Entertainment restaurant. This casual dining experience offers players a chance to eat, drink, and watch their bets play out on the TVs located throughout the restaurant. Players can even attend “football parties” on Monday nights while watching the game.

One-Stop Gaming Destination

The We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort opened in October 2020 and already featured over 800 slot machines, 24/7 table games, and a 750 seat bingo hall. Now, through a partnership with BetFred Sports, guests can also try their hand at the exciting world of sports betting.

The We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort is owned and operated by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation. Representatives have expressed a desire to build the casino resort into a destination for all types of gaming. The addition of the new sports betting kiosks gets them one step closer to that goal.

On top of top-tier gaming, the resort also offers guests access to a AAA Four-Diamond hotel on site. Its located close to multiple golf courses and other activities provided by Fort McDowell Adventures. Guests can also take advantage of a wide selection of dining options available on site.

Plans for Future Expansion

Sports betting was legalized in Arizona back in 2019. Since then, many mobile sportsbooks have applied for licensing within the state. To take advantage of this newly available type of gaming, brick-and-mortar casinos have started partnering with sportsbooks.

The We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort’s partnership with BetFred Sports allows the casino to draw on the expertise of a sportsbook that has operated in the UK for over 50 years. The use of self-service kiosks allows players quick and convenient access to the platform.

The addition of the self-service betting kiosks is just one step toward BetFred Sports’ ultimate goal: opening the complete BetFred Sportsbook. The sportsbook will also be located at the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort. Opening the sportsbook will make Arizona the 4th state with BetFred Sports operations. BetFred also plans to expand into Nevada soon.

The We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort officially opened in the fall of 2020, but its history goes back much farther than that. The Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, which owns the new casino resort, opened the first tribal gaming business in Arizona in 1984 called Baja Bingo. Through the decades since, Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation has been instrumental in fighting for the rights of tribes to own and operate casinos within the state and across the country.

Baja Bingo was eventually renamed the Fort Mcdowell Casino in 1992. The casino operated under its new name for 28 years until October 2020. However, the doors were closed for good as the new We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort opened as its replacement. Now with a new casino and a new business partnership, the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation will look to lead the way in establishing the sports betting industry in Arizona.
