Anytime you get in a stressful situation start focusing on your breathing. Practice this until you can quickly do it whenever you need to. This is a great way to reduce your stress and keep a calm mind.

Take a Walk Away From the Casino Games

The next time you start getting stressed out and/or feel your mind starting to move away from being calm, stop what you’re doing and take a quick walk. This is an almost sure way to get your mind back to the calm that you need to make good gambling decisions.

Just like learning how to control your breathing, taking a quick walk does two things to help you calm your mind. The first thing it does is put your body in motion. It’s usually not a strenuous exercise to take a walk, but it’s still a form of exercise.

When you exercise it automatically helps calm your mind. If it doesn’t start clearing your mind right away, keep walking until it does. The other thing that taking a walk does to help clear your mind is it takes your focus off the thing that caused you to lose focus. Never underestimate the power of distraction when you need to clear your head.

Even if you’re not in danger of losing control of your mind or losing focus when you’re gambling, you should still take walks frequently. Most forms of gambling involve sitting around so you don’t get good circulation.

When you take a walk it helps get more oxygen to your brain, which helps you make better decisions. The casino games are still going to be there when you get back, so schedule frequent walks when you’re gambling.

Understand the Gambling Odds Completely

Another technique is one I saw on a Sherlock episode. Sherlock uses a memory technique called a mind palace. He uses it to organize and store information so he can remember more and quickly access what he needs.

You can use the mind palace technique to store memories for your happy place. I know that using a happy place might sound silly, but don’t knock it until you’ve tries it. You might just find that it’s the best way to be a happier gambler.

Practice Meditation

The most well known way to calm your mind is meditation. Most people think of meditation as sitting still with your eyes close where there isn’t any noise. This is kind of difficult if you’re gambling, but there are more than one ways to meditate.

You can learn how to use a fast meditation technique that you can use anywhere and anytime. Some people even use a fast meditation technique when they’re driving a car.

Just like using a happy place in your mind, there isn’t a single best way to use meditation and there isn’t a wrong way to use it. Figure out what works best for your purposes and use it.

You don’t have to share what you’re doing with anyone else if you don’t want to. I use meditation at times, but I use it the more traditional way to clear my mind before performing a complicated or challenging task.
