Gambling Strategies That Will Take You From Zero to Hero

Spend much time in the gambling world, and you’ll quickly become overwhelmed with gambling systems that claim to guarantee a massive profit.

Don’t quit your day job. If some brilliant gambler discovered how to print money in the casino, they’re going to keep it under wraps for as long as possible.

Otherwise, the casinos would quickly combat the problem or go out of business. Either way, their potential billions fade into nothing.

Here are nine strategies that will take you from zero to hero without bankrupting the casino.

Take Advantage of Online Casino Bonuses

If you’re playing online casino games or thinking of making the jump, pay attention to the online casino bonuses.

Online casinos compete hard for your business, and you are the beneficiary. Before choosing an online casino, you need to do your due diligence.

After you’ve determined the top contenders to make your deposit, it’s time to get down to the excellent stuff.

Casino bonuses are free money deposit matches. They’re typically either offered as a percentage or dollar amount match on your initial deposit.

For example, if you make a $500 deposit, the casino may match 100% up to $350. This means your account starts at $850 instead of $500.

The promotions vary and are changed regularly. So, you’ll need to do your own research on what bonuses work best for you.

You should pay close attention to the terms of your deposit bonus. You’re not going to get “free money” without some form of obligation.

Many times there will be a wager amount that must be met before you’re able to withdraw your bonus money. This is important because you may not be able to withdraw any winnings at all until you’ve completed these terms.

Play Against the Dealer in Blackjack

Playing real money blackjack on a table without other players can be tremendously advantageous. In fact, casinos hate when you’re playing the dealer heads up.

One of the biggest benefits of playing against the dealer 1:1 is the sheer number of hands you’ll be able to play. You’ll be playing approximately three hands for every one you’d play with a full table. This means if you can find a table with friendly rules and are playing basic strategy on every hand, you’ll be able to pad your chip stack quickly.

Secondly, you won’t have to worry about other players mucking up the action. We’ve all seen that one player that hits on 17 and gets a 10, only to have the dealer flip over a second 8 and catch a 5 to make 21; it’s infuriating.

Usually, when you get on a solid winning streak, the pit boss will send over house players to slow down the action. I’ve seen some casinos simply close the table I was at and forced me to move to another lower limit table.

If you’re counting cards, you know that the more hands you can play, the better. So, try to get on a table with only you and the dealer.

Always Play Max Lines

Slot machines have evolved from a simple 3 reeled machine with a single pay line to massive video machines with up to 7 reels and dozens of pay lines to wager on.

Regardless of whether you’re playing a 3 reel machine or 7 reels, you should always bet max lines. You’ll have a hard time staying afloat on a 25 pay line game, only betting one pay line per spin.

It may seem that you’re extending your bankroll by doing this. Still, today’s machines are designed to offer the highest payout available when all lines are in play.

Today, slot machines are packed with bonus games, and you’ll typically need to bet max lines to trigger the lucrative bonus games.

If you’re going to sit down on a slot machine for any amount of time, always bet max lines, and your bankroll will be better off for it.

Make Craps Odds Work for You

I’ve often touted the greatness and simplicity of the Pass and Don’t Pass bets in craps. Usually, I’m targeting casino newbies that may be intimidated by the craps table and want to encourage them to take the plunge.

However, there’s a bet that can take savvy players from zero to hero quicker than almost any other game.

I’m talking about the odds bets. There’s zero house advantage on the odds bet.

That means the higher the odds you take, the more you increase your edge.

Unfortunately, sometimes the casino caps the odds bet at 5x, but even if you can make the 20x bet, you’ll need to have $400 to throw down on a $20 initial wager.

Don’t Pass for Success

While I’m on the subject of craps, let’s look at another great opportunity to make some casino cash.

Taking the Don’t Pass bet can also help that bankroll grow steadily. The obvious problem here is that you’ll be betting against the shooter and almost all of your fellow gamblers.

Craps is a very social game by nature, and part of the fun of the pass line is that you’re acting in unison to take down a common enemy, the casino.

Still, you’re probably not at the casino to make friends. If you are looking for a buddy, stick to the bar.

Although the house edge is only 0.05% smaller on the don’t pass, any advantage you can gain on the casino floor will help you move from zero to hero status.

Try not to gloat or be over celebratory when you win, though. Most of your fellow gamblers likely just lost.

Only Make Even Money Bets in Roulette

Roulette comes in a variety of games. The main three are American, European, and lesser-known French.

French roulette is played on a standard European table but has a unique rule that significantly reduces the house advantage.

La partage allows you to keep half of your wager on even money bets when the ball lands on zero. This simple change cuts the house edge to 1%.

That’s almost as good as playing blackjack with basic strategy.

You won’t find French Roulette in every casino, but when you’re fortunate enough to find a game take a seat. Make even money bets, and you’ll walk away from the table with a much larger bundle of chips.

Play More Tournaments

Playing in tournaments is one of my favorite ways to increase your potential winnings while simultaneously lowering your stake.

You don’t have to settle for poker tournaments. Especially steer clear if you’re a novice poker player.

Casinos offer tournaments for blackjack, slots, and even video poker. So, there’s something for everyone.

Typically, the buy-ins for tournaments are much less than you’d normally put in play in an hour. This can really save your bankroll some trouble.

By minimizing your risk with the one-time buy-in, you won’t be slowly siphoning money out of your bankroll.

The tournaments operate on a pay scale that’s determined by the number of participants. It’s not uncommon to see the top prizes in the thousands.

Some of the larger tournaments each year, like the W.S.O.P., have prizes in the millions.

Check the casino’s website for any upcoming tournaments before your next trip and brush up on your skills.

Cashing a $10k check is a surefire way to check the hero box.

Always Protect Your Bankroll

It’s pretty common to see gamblers walk into the casino with $400 or less, sit down at a table, and begin betting $20 per hand.

This seems harmless on the surface, and if it’s expendable income, no harm/no foul. However, you’re going to run out of money relatively quickly.

If you’ve only got 20 losing hands in front of you, you’re betting too high. You’re going to get incremental wins to offset some of the losses, but it won’t be enough. Now, if you’d like to spend as much time as possible playing your favorite game at low stakes and your bankroll is $400, that’s doable.

You’ll need to lower your wager amount for each hand. The pundits will tell you never to bet more than 1-2% of your bankroll at any given time.

So, if you take that $400 to a table with a $5 minimum and play for $5 per hand, you’re golden.

Managing your gambling bankroll will keep you taking home more money consistently.

Don’t Go on Tilt

This should go without saying, but do not go tilt on the casino floor.

When you completely spin out for any reason at all, it always ends in disaster.

Stay calm, and if you’re getting lousy breaks or suffer an incredibly bad beat, get up and take a walk. Use the time to remember you’re at one of your favorite places, presumably engaging in one of your favorite activities.

Enjoy the moment, find something to be thankful for and get back to it only after you’ve settled down enough to make clear decisions.

Use these nine strategies that will take you from zero to hero and leave the casinos with more money in your pocket than you’ve ever imagined.

Keep in mind that sometimes heroes aren’t millionaires, but they aren’t destitute either.
