From a round of golf at the Mount Airy Golf Club to Mohegan Sun Arena, entertainment is just around the corner all over a region in nature’s backyard.

Let’s talk about a few of them.

Mount Airy Golf Club

Since Mount Airy Casino Resort is just that, a resort. So you don’t need to venture off the property to take advantage of its nearby attractions. But if you need a day off from the endless casino gaming, a day on the course in the resort’s backyard is up your alley if you’re a golf enthusiast. Especially at a course like this one.

In fact, even if the real money slots and tables didn’t go your way, you can place a winning bet that a round of golf at the Mount Airy Course will bring you an experience unlike anything you’ve ever played before.

Need convincing?

This golf course was once voted the “Best 18 Holes in Golf” by Sports Illustrated, one of the most reputable sports-related magazines in the world.

Their justification?

Every one of these 18 holes takes the form of unique Championship-level holes across America. Expect to be in for the most challenging game of golf in your life. But hey, if your skill rivals professional golfers, it should be fun, right?

Just a few golf courses the Mount Airy Golf Club is modeled after include Pebble Beach, Oakland Hills, Merion, and Augusta National. If you’re a golf enthusiast, you’ve probably heard of a few of these courses.

It provides a taste of what you’re getting when you come to the Mount Airy Golf Course.

But you don’t even need to be a fan of the game to appreciate the magnificent scenic views and private country club-like golf conditions immersed in the middle of the Pocono Mountains. Talk about the ultimate stress reliever, right?

Also located on the course is a full-service bar, a golf shop, a private club, restaurant, locker rooms, and even a shower facility. If you’re thinking ‘Hole in One’ just from the description of this golf course, just wait until you see it.

The Spa at Mount Airy

The Spa at Mount Airy isn’t just a place to pamper yourself; within its walls also sits an indoor/outdoor pool plus a state-of-the-art fitness center. So if you’re up for rest, relaxation, or exercise to burn off steam you’ll surely get at the casino floor, then don’t worry; the resort has you covered.

Like the golf course, you don’t need to run away from the casino to take advantage of the resort’s premier amenity. Instead, you can take advantage of all the spa services that include body wraps, pedicures, hair, manicures, you name it.

The Spa at Mount Airy

If you’re more into the exercise side of things rather than spa services, the pool and fitness center are calling your name.

The resort’s Get Wet Ultra Pool offers 51,000 square feet of real estate complete with a poolside lounge, bar, day beds, luxury cabanas, and light dining options. Not bad for an admission fee of just $20, right?

Hop into the Get Wet Ultra Pool, swim some laps, or just float and lose yourself in the mountainous scenery whether you choose to swim indoors if you’re up for taking the underwater passage to the outdoor area.

And of course, if you’re looking for a non-aquatic workout, hit up the fitness center. Whether it’s free weights, weight machines, or cardio, you’ll find access to everything you need to ensure your workout on the road matches that of your local gym.

Open 24/7 with no extra charge, get your sweat on after a day on the casino floor or after dinner to burn off those stubborn calories.

Gypsies NightClub and Lounge

And what’s an awesome vacation without the nightlife, right?

It’s described as one of the classiest bars and nightclubs around, complete with free Valet Parking. So if you’re one who’d rather hang with the middle-aged crowd with drinks at a bargain price, you’ll love Gypsies NightClub and Lounge.

Crowds range from sparse to filling the dance floor. And the most entertaining local and classic bands are often in the house. So if you’re up for local entertainment or a blast from the past, you’ll find the atmosphere at Gypsies to be a thrilling experience.

Bands like Fuel have rocked away the night at this attraction. So if you listen to the 1990s post-grunge scene, you can safely bet that Gypsies will find its way onto your to-do list if you’re in from out of town. Nineties nostalgia, here we come, right?

Gypsies NightClub and Lounge

The only real gripe among patrons at this location comes in the form of drinks, which they state go rather light on alcohol. Obviously, this is a strength or a weakness, depending on your preference.

If you’re more of a casual drinker, then you’ll love the fact they go on the lighter side at the bar.

Whatever your drink preferences, you will find the greatest entertainment around with food and drinks going for a fair price. So if you’re not willing to break the bank on a night out, then Gypsies is your number one option in the area.

But if Gypsies falls short, other excellent bars and nightclubs at the resort include Pia’s Lounge and The Glass Bar. Pia’s is great if you’re looking for something more sophisticated or if you’re not interested in venturing too far from the casino table games, your best option is The Glass Bar.

Pocono Raceway

Locals call it the Tricky Triangle given its shape. The Pocono Raceway is the home to two top-level NASCAR events every year and dozens of events you can get excited about if you’re a race fan or not.

The Pocono Raceway is open to the public all year round. Organizations like Stock Car Experience, Bertil Roos Driving School, Sports Car Club of America, and others have found a home at the track.

But if you’re in town for a racing event, it’s highly likely you’ll find greater entertainment here than even at Mount Airy’s top event center featuring world-class acts. That’s assuming you love watching cars hit speeds up to 200 miles an hour along the straightaways, the smell of fuel, and the thrilling finishes.

Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania

Besides the NASCAR Cup’s Pocono Organics 350 and Pocono 350, you’ll also find intense racing at the lower levels, including the NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and the ARCA Menard’s Series.

But even if there’s no need for speed over the weekend, this track is still worth the visit given both its unique triangular shape and the fact that its infield offers 22 different road course configurations. So the latter is definitely a sight to see. Especially if they’re busy configuring the course for the weekend.

Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza

If you’re coming in from the Pittsburgh or Wheeling area, you understand the significance behind the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. And while the “other” casino in the Poconos, the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, owns the naming rights, this is the place to be if there’s a hockey night going on after a day of gaming.

So hit up the Fox Sportsbook if you’d like and place your bet on the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins before heading off to catch some AHL action.

Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza

But whether you’re a fan of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins or if you’re a hockey enthusiast who’d just like to see a great game from the Penguins AHL affiliate, this is the place to catch all the live-action.

Come in and watch some of the NHL’s stars of tomorrow take the ice and show their front offices they have what it takes to make the leap and earn a promotion into the NHL.

With that in mind, there is nothing like what will feel like playoff hockey all year round when the players are looking to work their way from professional hockey’s second-tier league to a spot on the Penguins or another NHL roster.

Since Mount Airy is a resort, it is one of those casinos whose primary attractions are often right at the venue. For you, it means you don’t need to drive far if you’re looking for things to do beyond the realm of casino gaming.

However, if you’re looking to drive around the area for a fun day or night away from the resort, then the sports scene is fresh in the Pocono Mountains.

From the high-flying speeds at Pocono Raceway to the intense action of AHL hockey on the ice, there is plenty to get excited about if you need some live sports in your life.
