Boasting 250-plus reviews at 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor, Grotto of the Redemption is a fantastic outlet to spend some time at. Better yet, you’re looking at a free attraction when you visit the Grotto of the Redemption. So even if you didn’t win over at Wild Rose Emmetsburg, no problem.
This attraction is more Christian-based, as it tells the story of the birth and life of Jesus Christ.
It’s told in stones. So you’re looking at some grand pieces of artwork when you frequent this venue. Other amenities at the site include a gift shop, cafe, park, and even a church.
Algona POW Camp Museum
The Algona POW Camp Museum is more than worth it if you’re into history. Once a prisoner of war camp that housed over 10,000 German prisoners from 1943 to 1946, it’s now the site of one of the area’s hottest attractions.
It’s a fantastic historical educational experience. Plus, for a reasonable admission price, you’re not breaking the bank when you frequent this stop. You’ll learn about the history of the camp, plus stories of the prisoners housed there.
Train Wreck Winery
You’ll find Train Wreck Winery in North Central Iowa in Algona. Just northwest of Emmetsburg and Palo Alto County. They have gotten their name after a train wreck that occurred back in 1924 on the land next to what is now their vineyard.
