9 Amazing Ways to Enjoy Las Vegas If You Don’t Gamble

Vegas Show on Right and Inside a Resort on Left

Las Vegas is the premier gambling destination for much of the world. Sure, the gambling scene in Macau is absurdly good, but we’re talking Vegas, baby.

This is the spot dubbed the entertainment capital of the world, and it delivers. The days of heading to Las Vegas with “the boys” are behind me, but I’ve got plenty of future trips with my family to look forward to.

That’s in large part due to the shift Las Vegas has made from a pure gambling town to an immersive, family-friendly destination. You’ll still enjoy world-class gambling opportunities, but the non-gamblers will hardly miss you while you’re in the casino.

Here are 9 amazing ways to enjoy Las Vegas if you don’t gamble, or you can merely live life to the fullest when you’re done in the casino.

Shop ‘til You Drop

One thing that instantly pops out to you in Las Vegas is the insane amount of window shopping at your disposal. It seems like everywhere you go, great retail shops are vying for your attention and your money.

These stores cover the full spectrum of budgets from the bargain shopper to the ultra-posh. So, you won’t be forced to watch through the glass while others have all the fun.

They are where you do your shopping will impact the types of stores you have access to. For example, Fremont Street is going to have a retail vibe much like a shopping mall.

Fremont Street is your spot if you’re looking for souvenirs to take home for friends or family. However, for a more refined experience and higher prices, head to the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian.

You’ll have so many choices, you may not know what to do with yourself. Total retail overload is what I tell my wife.

Catch a World-Class Show

You aren’t dubbed the “Entertainment Capital of the World” by tossing out C-tier celebrities to perform cover songs in the lounge. No, you need to bring the heavy hitters, and that’s exactly what Vegas has done.

Since the days of the Rat Pack, Las Vegas has been home to some of the biggest names in showbiz. Elvis, Streisand, Cher, Brittany, and Celine are only a few of the elite performances to once make their home in Sin City.

Cirque de Soleil Acrobat Show, Las Vegas

What makes Las Vegas great is that the fabulous shows don’t stop there. You can find shows for everyone on any day of the year.

Shows like Cirque du Soleil, Absinthe, Blue Man Group, David Copperfield, and even Carrot Top have regular shows. While Absinthe is a personal favorite, my nod goes to Cirque du Soleil because they have so many performances and appeal to a broader demographic.

Dive into the Rich History

Vegas is shrouded in lore and mystique because of its unsavory past. While the mobsters no longer run the city, their rich history of Las Vegas lives on through the museums around town.

The National Museum of Organized crime is a must-see attraction for any mafia or true crime fan. Appropriately dubbed the Mob Museum, this fantastic location will walk you through history with unique exhibits.

You may think twice before being too stern with the pit boss after a visit.

The Neon Museum is another Vegas treasure. You can explore signs from the casinos of the past and find the sheer beauty of it enlightening.

Another thing you’ll definitely want to do is take a ton of pictures. Is it even a Vegas trip if you don’t post selfies from the Neon Museum?

You’ll find interesting and exciting museums throughout the city that walk you through history and showcase incredible art. All you need to accomplish this is to match your itinerary to your personal preferences.

Hit the Links

If you can stand the searing desert heat, Las Vegas is home to some of the most luxurious golf courses on the planet. I’d play golf at any of the lush oases from dawn to sunset if I could.

Unfortunately, that’s not in the cards, and I’m relegated to my other favorite pastime. Luckily, I’m already in Las Vegas.

Mohegan Sun Golf Club

I recommend playing any course you can get a tee time at, but the earlier, the better. I’ve spent most of my life in a climate where triple-digit heat is the norm from late June thru August, and that Nevada heat just hits different.

Should you need any help securing a spot, ask the hotel concierge or the player’s club for assistance. They may even get you comped if you’re a VIP gambler.

Get Away from the Hussle and bustle of the City

There’s no reason to not get away from town for a day. The area surrounding Las Vegas has a ton of excellent sights to see.

The Hoover Dam admittedly sounds pretty dull to anyone under 35. However, make the short drive out of town, and you’ll be hard-pressed to not be in awe of the massive structure.

Maybe you’ll even find a dam bait shop to do some fishing.

For a more extended road trip, but one you’ll remember for the rest of your life, make the 4-hour trek to the Grand Canyon. You can’t put into words the majesty of the canyon.

The experience will surely stay with you for a lifetime, but you should still take plenty of pictures on the adventure.

Limitless Options for World-Class Cuisine

My wife and I love to eat. More specifically, we enjoy excellent meals.

It doesn’t make much difference if we munch down on brisket and ribs and use paper towels to wipe the juice from our faces or dressed to the nines having dinner served up by a world-famous chef.

As long as the food is terrific, we are thrilled. Las Vegas is in no short supply of culinary bliss.

Man Carving a Roast Ham

On each trip, I try to plan a dinner out each night. She’s not much of a gambler, so this provides some quality time for the two of us.

I still haven’t found the time to check out all the spots on my list on all of my trips. Foodies love Las Vegas because of the endless culinary experiences.

Blow Some Stuff Up

I genuinely don’t care what your political leaning may be; blowing stuff up is fun. Provided it’s done in a safe and practical manner, of course.

That’s where Battlefield Vegas comes into the picture. This place isn’t your grandpa’s shooting range, and my grandad fought in WWII.

If you’ve ever watched John Wick go nuts and thought, “Wow, that looks fun.” Battlefield Vegas is built for you.

You can fire just about any weapon on the planet, from semi-automatic civilian arms to full-fledged military weaponry. That means the unbridled joy of throwing lead downrange 30 or more rounds at a time.

Humvee and Helicopter Outside of Battlefield Las Vegas

However, that’s not close to the most extraordinary attraction at this Las Vegas armory. How’d you like to drive a tank?

How’d you like to fire said tank?

That’s what I thought. It’s going to run you about $2500 before tax and gratuity, so pocket those casino winnings and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime thrill like no other.

You’ll have no trouble impressing your friends after you become tank commander for a day.

See Vegas from the Air

Want to take the adrenaline to new heights?

Try taking a tour of Las Vegas via helicopter. There are several outfits running regular tours of the city by air.

You can package these luxurious rides with a dining experience for the ultimate date night. Or save the gas driving to the Grand Canyon and go by helicopter.

I’ve experienced the bliss of a Grand Canyon helicopter tour, and it’s worth whatever price tag they slap on it. Still, you should be able to get a sick view of the Strip for under $125.

That’ll hopefully leave enough cash to follow it up with some tank combat.

Get Your Party On

The nightlife in Sin City is, well, Sin City. You can find hundreds of exciting nightclubs to party until the wee hours of the morning with your best friends and some great cocktails.

You’ll have no trouble finding the parties. From the poolside cabanas to the high-rise formal wear occasions, Vegas has it all.

Las Vegas pool parties

I should caution you that what happens in Vegas may stay there, but it could also land you in jail. There’s no moratorium on crime that I’m aware of, and the LVPD won’t have much sympathy just because you’re on vacation.

So, don’t make-believe that it’s a free for all or that you’re the center of the party. I can’t tell you how many separate occasions I’ve sat back and watched the life of the party be removed in handcuffs.

In Summary

There are certainly more ways to enjoy Las Vegas than the ones above. But everyone should appreciate the 9 unique ways to enjoy Las Vegas if you don’t gamble.

Even the most avid casino gamblers sometimes need a break, and there’s a whole world waiting for you to come to enjoy the amenities. Stay safe, stay responsible, and keep the camera nearby.
