However, it serves as a moving story plus a gem in the region surrounding Sac and Fox Casino. Davis built the Davis Memorial in his wife Sarah’s memory after she died in 1930. Completed in 1934, it depicts Davis and his wife in various stages of their life, along with a few inscriptions telling the story behind it.
In Mount Hope Cemetery, the Davis Memorial has since become part of the National Register of Historic Places. Having found its way on the list in 1977, it’s one of those attractions that you can spend over an hour in, or if you’d just like to look, a few minutes.
You will find the Davis Memorial in nearby Hiawatha, about eight miles from the casino.

Like many of your small town eateries, they feature a unique, local twist on their fare, along with friendly service. It’s a place many reviewers on TripAdvisor make routine return trips to, whether they’re from the area or traveling through.
If you’re looking for a unique outlet to, from, or during your time in the region, stop at Wild Bills and mingle with the local crowd. It’s one of the best restaurants slash bars in the area, and despite its small size, has stood the test of time.

More than Lemons is 21 miles away in nearby Holton, Kansas, and it’s one of those eclectic, small-town shops. You won’t find large, multinational chains that offer what More Than Lemons does, so don’t bother looking.
It’s more than a store; More Than Lemons specializes in the art of glassmaking, and they even hold lectures on glassblowing and its associated properties. It’ll take some time out of your day and cost money, but reviewers on TripAdvisor have noted that it’s well worth it.
If you or your travel group would like time away from the floor at Sac and Fox Casino and are cool with traveling 20 minutes down the road, More Than Lemons is a great place to stop, shop, and even learn a little about an obscure trade.
